Job Summary:
The Plant Manager is responsible for ensuring that the facility is operating in compliance with all Messer internal requirements as well supporting adherence to government regulations. It is expected that the Plant Manager will build, develop, and manage a high-performance team with a focus on safety, quality and continuous improvement to support Messer's overall business structure while meeting customer needs.

Principal Responsibilities:

-Responsible for safe, quality focused and successful operation of plant processes

-Manage multiple department managers, supervisors, and indirectly supervisor the plant staff (HSE, Engineering, Operations, Quality, Logistics, & Maintenance)

-Accountable for a team of 50+ employees

-Lead, motivate and manage production personnel; oversee all production activities (physical and administrative)

-Responsible for overseeing the scheduling of production to ensure on-time shipment; Review product lead time and cycle-time to develop goals

-Drive Safety initiatives (Golden Rules, Eagle Eye, etc.)

-Manage Site Security and maintain Department of Homeland Security program.

-Manage and maintain Site Environnemental compliance program.

-Manage and maintain Site Health and Safety program.

-Manage and maintain Site Quality program.

-Ensures compliance with all applicable local, state, and federal regulatory requirements which include but are not limited to: OSHA PSM/RMP, DOT, FDA, HPFBI, PADEP, EPA etc.

-Manage and review all plant budgeting activities as well as the daily expenditures

-Provide technical assistance to all site personnel. Provide technical and status update information to sales, customer service and customers as required.

-Manage the development and improvement of production methods.

-Participate in development of new production processes in conjunction with Commercial Development and Engineering groups.

-Stay current on developments related to production processes and government regulations effecting the product line and the production process.

-Safety coordinate activities with multiple departments and a large plant staff.

-Interface with Management and Commercial Team members regarding production and quality issues

-Recruit, select and develop talent into the organization

-Develop meaningful service and quality metrics. Prepare and present performance to upper management.

-Oversee all current production equipment including preventive maintenance, repairs, and purchase of new equipment.

-Manage and provide guidance to the Operations, Lab, and Shipping Manager for the daily production activities

-Manage and prioritize the plant engineering team's daily activities.

-Adhere to all company policies, safety, and standard operating procedures

-Lead daily production meetings.

-Lead daily toolbox talks on safety and quality.

-Manage supplies for production department.

-Manage and prioritize the plant engineering team's daily activities.

-Responsible for (or to participate in) Hazop, Synergi case investigations, customer complaint investigations.

-Provide Leadership to all site production personnel

-Proactively identify risks to safety and quality: Drive mitigation, Drive process improvements, Drive KPI performance (Safety, On-time shipping, eCAR mitigation, GAP)

-Develop and execute local business strategy

-Lead/Assist with Hazop and RA sessions

-Support customer and ISO audits

-Strongly Manage Safety and Quality performance

-Develop 1- 3-5 year plan for Operations

-Develop proper strategy for Asset planning to prevent shortages

-Manage local GDE investments greater than 1MM annually.

-Develop strong culture of personal accountability for Safety and Quality

Basic Qualifications:



  • Bachelor's degree in Science or Engineering preferred, Or no degree and 15 years in directly related operations experience.
  • Minimum 10 Years of experience in Operations, Supply Chain Management, Lab Management, Quality Management
