The Business Systems Analyst supports the administration, enhancement, and daytoday operation of enterprise financial systems. This role partners closely with senior analysts and business stakeholders to deliver reliable reporting, system improvements, and user support while developing deeper technical and functional expertise over time.
The analyst is expected to independently own assigned tasks and deliverables, while working under guidance for more complex design decisions and system changes Key Responsibilities:
Financial Systems and Administration: Support the administration and maintenance of one or more enterprise financial systems, including assisting with vendor updates, system configuration changes, and issue resolution. Perform routine system monitoring, data validation, and operational checks to ensure accuracy, stability, and compliance. Requirements Support and Analysis: Partner with business stakeholders to understand reporting and analysis needs. Assist in documenting business requirements and translating them into clear functional or technical specifications with guidance from senior team members. Data Management and Reporting: Use databases, queries, and reporting tools to gather, validate, and analyze financial data. Build and maintain standard reports, dashboards, and data extracts to support business users. Investigate data discrepancies and support rootcause analysis with oversight. Process and System Improvement: Identify opportunities for incremental process or reporting improvements and propose solutions. Participate in system enhancement efforts, testing, and documentation activities. User Support and Collaboration: Provide Tier 3 support to business users, responding to questions and resolving routine system or reporting issues. Escalate complex issues appropriately and collaborate with senior analysts and IT partners to resolve them. Contribute to knowledge sharing through documentation and user guidance. Testing and Changes: Support system testing activities related to enhancements, fixes, or vendor releases. Execute test cases, document results, and assist with validation prior to production deployment. Learning and Development: Actively build knowledge of financial systems, data structures, and finance processes. Stay engaged with team standards, best practices, and evolving system capabilities.
Key Skills:
Technical and Analytical Skills: Working knowledge of SQL and reporting or analytics tools; ability to learn additional tools as needed. Comfort working with financial data, performing data validation, and troubleshooting issues. Systems and Process Understanding: Foundational understanding of system development and change lifecycles. Ability to follow structured processes for testing, documentation, and deployment. Business and Requirements Support: Ability to understand business needs and contribute to requirement documentation with guidance. Growing capability to translate business questions into structured analytical or system tasks. Problem Solving: Strong attention to detail with the ability to investigate issues, identify contributing factors, and propose solutions. Willingness to ask questions and seek feedback when navigating unfamiliar or complex scenarios. Communication and Collaboration: Clear, professional communication with both technical and nontechnical stakeholders. Ability to work effectively within a team environment and accept coaching and feedback. Financial Acumen: Basic understanding of accounting concepts, financial reporting, and finance processes, with an expectation to deepen knowledge over time. Exposure to Cadency, Basware, or Esker is a plus.
