Under guidance, perform a variety of routine laboratory operations in a quality assurance or research setting. Responsibilities usually consist of making measurements, performing several routine quantitative and qualitative biological or chemical analytical tests according to standard procedures. Assist higher level technicians in setup of laboratory equipment and in recording data for experiments and procedures. Requires knowledge in using various instruments to prepare for and perform tests. Perform routine and safety program checks and preventive maintenance on instruments.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Maintaining the equipment and supplies in the room to assure that 5S and safety standards are maintained. Perform basic troubleshooting when equipment issues arise.
  • Will interact daily within a Painting Process Laboratory using Bell or Gun Paint Application Equipment & Automation tools. Read and implement the appropriate Quality Work Instructions.
  • Logically collect data with measurement devices and enter in spreadsheets. Will need to make painting and paint process evaluation of output quality results such as film thickness, appearance, common painting defects and the like. Desirable to have experience with computer software packages including Microsoft Word, Excel and Email.
  • Reduce, catalyze and adjust clear samples.
  • Backup Responsibilities: Would include but not limited to, perform solvent based wet bench testing, adjustment, & spray reduction
  • Contribute to Cleveland QC Operating System / metrics
  • Sample prep. & delivery for Applications or Technical departments
  • Retrieve, retain, and pull historical Panels when needed. Run wet testing on samples coming into the lab. Perform dry testing on sprayed panels. Update and keep accurate records.

Qualifications:

  • Education: High School or equivalent

Functional/Technical Expertise Necessary

  • 1+ year of quality lab or paint testing or similar experience preferred
  • Work with computers, applications, and lab test equipment.
  • Working with complex application equipment.
  • Work well with people and communicate and share information.
  • Mechanical and process problem solving skills are a plus.
  • Very desirable: IT networking and database knowledge and education.

The base salary range for this position is $53,000.
