The Senior Manager of Human Resources is a hands-on, people-focused leader responsible for supporting and executing day-to-day HR operations across the organization. This role works closely with and through others to deliver consistent, high-quality HR services while building strong relationships and fostering a positive, engaging work environment.

This position requires a highly collaborative, service-oriented professional who is effective at working with a wide range of individuals, including leaders, employees, and cross-functional partners. The role focuses on balancing relationship-building with accurate and timely execution of HR programs, policies, and processes.

Talent Acquisition

  • Partner with hiring managers to lead full-cycle recruiting, from sourcing through onboarding
  • Align with leaders to define role expectations and identify strong candidates
  • Build proactive talent pipelines to support current and future workforce needs
  • Deliver a consistent and positive candidate experience


Onboarding & Employee Experience

  • Support onboarding processes that help employees feel prepared, connected, and successful
  • Partner with teams to reinforce company values and engagement from day one
  • Continuously identify opportunities to improve the employee experience


Benefits, Payroll & HR Operations

  • Serve as a trusted resource for employees, providing guidance on HR programs, policies, and procedures
  • Support benefits administration and vendor coordination
  • Partner with internal teams to ensure accurate and timely payroll processing
  • Administer leave programs (FMLA, state-specific leaves, etc.) with consistency and care
  • Maintain HR systems, records, and data integrity across platforms
  • Prepare and share HR reporting to support business decisions
  • Ensure compliance with multi-state employment laws and company policies
  • Partner with leadership and Safety to support workforce initiatives and employee well-being
  • Support audits, reporting requirements, and documentation standards


Culture & Employee Relations

  • Build strong, trust-based relationships across all levels of the organization
  • Support employee engagement initiatives, including recognition programs and team activities
  • Assist with employee relations matters, ensuring fairness, consistency, and professionalism
  • Provide guidance to managers on employee and labor relations topics
  • Promote a respectful, inclusive, and collaborative work environment


Performance Management & Leadership Development

  • Support performance management processes, including goal setting, reviews, and development planning
  • Partner with managers to strengthen feedback and performance conversations
  • Assist in developing and delivering training and development programs
  • Support leadership development and continuous learning initiatives


Additional Responsibilities include the following.



      • Comply with Corporate Safety and department policies and procedures.
      • Attend required safety trainings and meetings; follow all safety and health guidelines, standards, practices, policies, and procedures; and actively participate in the Husky's Emergency Preparedness program and activities

      Education:



      • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field required, or equivalent combination of education and 5+ years of HR management experience
      • SHRM-CP/SCP or PHR/SPHR certification preferred


      Related experience:



      • 5+ years of HR management experience
      • Proven experience in a small HR department, ability to build structure, not just operated within it
      • Background in manufacturing, industrial, marine terminal, or union environments strongly preferred
      • PNW-based with deep familiarity with the Seattle/Tacoma talent market and employment landscape
      • Multi-state employment experience; comfortable navigating varying compliance requirements
      • Exceptional empathy, communication, and interpersonal skills.
      • Experience managing multiple HR disciplines (e.g., employee relations, talent, benefits, leaves)

      Required Credentials:



      • Ability to obtain a valid TWIC (Transportation Worker Identification Credential)
      • Valid Driver's license

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to wet environment and work near moving mechanical parts. The noise level in the work environment is typical business office level.
