Job Summary

Under the direction of the Disaster Health Supervisor, assists the Disaster Health team in programmatic activities related to all-hazards readiness. The position supports the Disaster Health portfolio in projects to improve preparedness and response efforts for all-hazards including project management, coordination, and meeting management.

Schedule This position is hybrid, with both in-person and remote days.

April - June- The intern must commit to 10-15 hours per week. Hours are primarily scheduled during regular business hours (Monday through Friday between 8 a.m. - 5 p.m.). Schedules are flexible and can be arranged to accommodate school/work schedules.

June - August- The intern must commit to 40-hours per week. Hours are primarily scheduled during regular business hours (Monday through Friday between 8 a.m. - 5 p.m.).

Essential Functions:

  • Assist the disaster health team with activities related to operational readiness, including training and education, exercises, and plan development. (30%)
  • Balance a wide variety of day-to-day tasks with long term projects. (25%)
  • Develop and curate materials for presentations, trainings and education, and communications. (20%)
  • Communicate effectively both verbally and in writing with a variety of audiences. (20%)
  • Other duties as assigned. (5%)

Education:

  • Bachelor's Degree Required and current enrollment in a master's program in health sciences, emergency management, public health, or public administration required. Required

Work Experience:

  • Completion of ICS 100, 200, 700, and 800 prior to start. Required

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Excellent writing skills.
  • Strong communication abilities.
  • Time management and critical thinking skills.
  • "Self-starter" that takes initiative and is proactive in responsibilities.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite.
