Your Role at Baxter

This is where my hands make life-sustaining products

As a Paint Operator, you play a key role in keeping production running smoothly. You will perform a variety of operations at assigned workstations. Follow guidelines and standard procedures to powder coat finished coatings using electrostatic powder coat equipment. Apply wet spray painting to various metal parts moving on a conveyor line or at assigned booths.

Your Team

You'll be part of a collaborative, fastpaced paint operations team that works closely to meet daily production goals. In this role, you'll interact regularly with paint technicians, utility operators, leads, and supervisors, as well as partner departments upstream and downstream in the production process.

What You'll Be Doing
  • Maintain and operate the Powder Coat System to keep production running smoothly and minimize downtime. This includes basic maintenance tasks such as checking and replacing pump plungers, cleaning venturis, and straightening hoses to prevent kinks. Load bulk powder into the hopper and ensure the paint viscosity is correct.
  • Inspect painted parts for quality and make repairs as needed. Use gauges and other test equipment to decide whether parts meet quality standards or need to be repaired or rejected.
  • Support daily production by moving trolleys, turning parts, operating powder coat guns, and racking or unracking parts as needed. Review production schedules from assembly departments and determine the best sequence of operations, considering color changes and timing. Work closely with supervisors and lead personnel from other departments to keep parts flowing smoothly between suppliers and customers.
  • Perform color changeovers as directed, including sweeping and blowing down the booth, cleaning guns, moving hoppers, reconnecting hoses, and adjusting cyclone hoses and bands. Disassemble and clean spray guns as required, following special cleaning procedures to recover as much powder material as possible.
  • Take responsibility for both the quality and quantity of work produced. Participate in team meetings, problemsolving activities, and continuous improvement efforts. Communicate issues or improvement ideas clearly to team members. Follow all standard work instructions and procedures, and document production data as needed to support quality, scheduling, and troubleshooting efforts.
  • Evaluate defective materials, tooling issues, unsafe conditions, or potential production stoppages, and recommend solutions when appropriate. This may include using a computer or communication devices. Help train, instruct, and support new or existing employees to ensure consistent quality and smooth operations.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area at all times, and follow all safety rules and regulations.
  • This description outlines the primary responsibilities of the role but may include additional duties as needed to support production and business needs.
What You'll Bring
  • High School Diploma or (GED) General Education Degree
Physical Requirements
  • Lifting 40lb. bags of powder paint
  • Upper body strength to safely operate spray guns during normal shifts
