The Agile Operations Intern will support the Interconnection Management Systems (IMS) team by helping convert incoming support requests into clear, structured Jira work items. This role focuses on backlog hygiene, work intake, and operational clarity, enabling product owners and technical analysts to spend more time solving problems and less time clarifying them. The role will also assist with curating official project documentation.

IMS is Duke Energy's platform used to manage interconnection requests for Net Metered and utilityscale generation. The intern will gain handson experience applying Agile concepts (Kanban and Scrum) in a fastpaced, realworld environment while supporting a missioncritical system. They will also gain critical insights into cross-functional prioritization strategies and business collaboration.

Specific Responsibilities

  • Review incoming support tickets and assist in converting them into clear, actionable Jira stories.
  • Identify missing information or unclear problem statements and follow up with appropriate stakeholders.
  • Tag and categorize work by program, complexity, and issue type to support effective triage.
  • Assist with backlog grooming and workflow organization.
  • Help identify repeating issues, trends, or documentation gaps.
  • Support Agile ceremonies as a participant (e.g., standups, reviews, retrospectives).
  • Assist with maintaining relevant project support documentation.

Basic / Required Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled in a 4year degree program (Business, Information Systems, Engineering, Computer Science, or related field) and not graduating prior to August 2026.
  • Cumulative GPA of 2.75 or higher.
  • Strong written communication skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to ask questions, seek clarification, and work through ambiguity.
  • Ability to work fulltime (40 hours/week) during the summer internship period.

Desired Qualifications

  • Interest in technology, operations, or product delivery.
  • Familiarity with Agile concepts (Kanban, Scrum) or tools such as Jira (not required).
  • Strong organizational and analytical skills.
  • Experience working in teambased or projectbased environments.
  • Comfortable managing multiple priorities in a dynamic setting
