Job Summary

The Associate Director of Career Management will serve as the day to day lead on career coaching for the EMBA program. Specifically, the Associate Director will oversee the EMBA Coaching team and be a thought leader for the coaching team. The Associate Director will also serve as a coach for EMBA students. They will be responsible for ensuring quality control.

Specific Responsibilities

Administration

  • In collaboration with the WP team, implements the state-of-the-art, cutting-edge programs and services designed to assist EMBA students manage their career experiences.
  • Creates and manages administrative process and practices ensuring the seamless flow of work and services.
  • Supports providing outstanding student service.
  • Supports contract coach engagement including managing coach-student pairing process, supports coaching team contract compliance, monitors coach participation in services and programs outside of coaching and is the first point of content with coaching emergencies to manage coaching disruptions.
  • Monitors, reports on and responds to EMBA student employment status changes.
  • Provides timely response to staff, faculty, employers or other stakeholders via Kellogg email, IM and the CMC inbox a minimum of 4 days each week.
  • Oversees the day-to-day activities of EMBA career coaches across 2 campuses- Evanston and Miami, conducting regular meetings with contract coaches to monitor trends, coaching needs and changes.
  • Collaborates with other CMC team members to keep contract coaches informed of Kellogg/CMC best practices, policy changes, programmatic developments and curriculum changes.

Technology

  • Manages and implements technology ensuring that resources and services are delivered using best practices.

Advising/Counseling

  • Advises and coaches students individually and in groups. Provides career strategies, resources and tools to best prepare current students for career pursuits.
  • Deliver 60% of coaching in person, on a Kellogg/Northwestern University campus.
  • Maintains knowledge of job market trends and hiring practices in a range of fields.
  • Travels to other campuses on occasion for student-facing purposes.

Relationships

  • Partners with internal/external departments, faculty, alumni and employers to identify career resources.
  • Partners with internal stakeholders to understand, align on and meet the career management needs of EMBA students including but not limited to EMBA Program Directors, faculty, and student experience staff members.
  • Collaborate closely with Coach Team Lead from the Evening & Weekend WP team to leverage resources effectively and collaborate when appropriate.
  • Works collaboratively with peers and others across multiple lines of business including but not limited to other teams within the CMC.

Programs/Events

  • Supports the development, design and delivery of programs such as lectures, speaker series, workshops, training, events etc. in collaboration with internal & external partners.
  • Participates in the ongoing development and refinement of the program's curriculum/topic in consultation with subject matter experts.
  • Makes recommendations on program speakers, presenters and facilitators including but not limited to faculty, alumni, other coaches, staff, employer partners and executive recruiters.

Evaluation

  • Manages implementation of evaluation processes, quantitative & qualitative measures that ensure that program benchmarks are successfully attained.
  • Makes recommendations & supports changes for service enhancements.

Supervises

  • Supervises 5 staff.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Successful completion of a full 4-year course of study in an accredited college or university leading to a bachelor's or higher degree; OR appropriate combination of education and experience and 5 years' career counseling/advising in higher education or 5 years' of industry experience; or other relevant experience required; OR
  • Successful completion of a full course of study in an accredited college or university leading to a master's or JD or higher degree; OR appropriate combination of education and experience and 4 years' career counseling/advising in higher education or 4 years' of industry experience; or other relevant experience required.

Minimum Competencies:

  • Excellent interpersonal, communication (written & oral), presentation, analytical, organizational and project management skills.
  • Ability to foster positive relations with multiple, diverse constituencies to influence and shape change.
  • Knowledge of MBA career fields, job functions and industries.
  • Proven self-starter with team orientation.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree, especially MBA, Higher Education, HR or other relevant degree, preferred.
  • Significant experience leading and working with senior-level individuals
  • Experience working with MBA students and alumni.
  • Experience in career development or corporate recruiting; coaching training experience required.
  • Experience leading cross-functional teams.

Preferred Competencies:

  • Demonstrated experience focusing on student learning and outcomes assessment.
  • Significant experience in mentoring, consulting and coaching

Target hiring range for this position will be $59,000 - $61,314 per year. Offered salary will be determined by the applicant's education, experience, knowledge, skills and abilities, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data.
