Primary Purpose of Organizational Unit
Housekeeping Services is comprised of a staff of more than 400 employees who provide cleaning service and floor care to more than 40,000 campus customers in the maintenance and operation of the University's 18 million plus square feet over 300 teaching, research, medical, administrative, residential, athletic and library buildings. Position Summary
A SIGN-ON BONUS OF $3,497 IS AVAILABLE FOR THE SUCCESSFUL APPLICANT OF THIS POSITION PAID IN 2 INSTALLMENTS WITHIN 12 MONTHS OF HIRE: $1,748.50 WITHIN 30 DAYS OF HIRE DATE & $1,748.50 12 MONTHS AFTER HIRE DATE.

This position provides floor maintenance service in campus building interior areas including offices, lounges, restrooms, student housing, classrooms, laboratories, entrances, exits, and common areas and across a wide variety of floor surfaces, including but not limited to: VCT, marble, slate, cement, terrazzo, ceramic tile, wood and cork. This position may be required occasionally to provide general cleaning duties, to include vacuuming, sweeping, mopping, dusting, and trash removal.

Must have a valid NC Driver's License or ability to obtain one prior to start date.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
Demonstrated possession of the competencies necessary to perform the work. Some knowledge of cleaning procedures, ability to follow instructions and to perform medium to heavy physical work; or an equivalent combination of training and experience. NOTE: Some positions may require special licenses or certification.
Management Preferences
Ability to provide quality floor maintenance service in campus building interior areas including but not limited to offices, lounges, restrooms, student housing, classrooms, and laboratories.

Ability to perform floor maintenance duties including stripping floors, refinishing floors, carpet extraction, shampooing carpet, and spray buffing.

Ability to understand work orders, product labels, and other written job materials, and follow instructions.

Demonstrated experience in institutional or commercial floor care and cleaning, including routine floor maintenance and general housekeeping duties.

Demonstrated experience working with commercial cleaning equipment.
Required Licenses/Certifications
Must have a valid NC Driver's License or ability to obtain one prior to start date.
Special Physical/Mental Requirements
This position is designated as mandatory and requires the employee to report to work to support critical University operations during adverse weather or other emergency conditions, including public health emergencies or situations that may result in University closure.

Employees are required to adhere to safety requirements by wearing the appropriate personal protective equipment.

Work is routine and repetitive in nature and may require strenuous physical exertion.

Employees be able to move objects weighing up to 75 lbs. and climb stairs with or without reasonable accommodation.

**ELIGIBILITY FOR SIGN-ON BONUS
The selected candidate for this position may be eligible for a sign-on bonus. Qualified applicants must apply and be selected from the candidate pool of this posting and meet the State policy following requirements:

To be eligible for a Sign-on bonus, an individual must not have worked in a probationary, permanent, or time-limited appointment in the last 12 months as an employee in North Carolina state government, including but not limited to the judicial system, state executive branch agencies, and the university system in a position subject to the State Human Resources Act.

A newly hired permanent full time or permanent part-time (more than 20 hours a week) employee are eligible for a sign-on bonus (this will be prorated for employees working more than 20 hours and less than 40 hours per week).
