Summary:

The Engagement & Stabilization Security Supervisor leads a specialized security team focused on promoting a safe, therapeutic, and trauma-informed environment within Maine Medical Center. This position is both operational and supervisory in nature.

In addition to performing the full scope of duties assigned to Specialists- including proactive patient engagement, de-escalation, and crisis response- the Supervisor is responsible for the overall leadership and coordination of the Engagement & Stabilization Team unit. This includes scheduling, performance oversight, operational effectiveness, and acting as the primary liaison with the Director of Security and Parking.

Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)

  1. Education:High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice, Psychology, Social Work, or related field preferred.
  2. License/Certifications: Valid driver's license required. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or ability to obtain within 90 days. Crisis Prevention & Intervention (CPI), Management of Aggressive Behavior (MOAB), Crisis Intervention Training, Mental Health First Aid required (or must be obtained within 6 months of hire).
  3. Experience: Prior supervisory experience in healthcare security, law enforcement, military, or behavioral health settings strongly preferred.
  4. Additional Skills/Requirements Required: Strong leadership and decision-making skills with the ability to lead under pressure. Advanced knowledge of de-escalation strategies, trauma-informed care, and behavioral health safety protocols. Exceptional interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills. Ability to work collaboratively across disciplines and maintain professionalism in high-stress situations. Commitment to equity, empathy, and respect in diverse healthcare settings.
