About the Role

Culmen is seeking Haitian Creole Interpreters to advance our critical mission in Port-au-Prince, Haiti.

This position requires deployments to Haiti.



What You'll Do in Your New Role

A Haitian Creole Interpreter is instrumental in promoting effective and culturally aware communication between speakers of Haitian Creole and English. This vital service supports individuals who are Limited English Proficient (LEP) by helping to eliminate language barriers in important contexts.

The interpreter is dedicated to delivering precise, comprehensive, and clear interpretations in both directions (Haitian Creole to English and vice versa), enabling all participants to engage meaningfully in conversations.

By prioritizing strict confidentiality, the interpreter fosters a safe space for open communication and adheres to ethical standards within the profession.

The interpreter proactively records important details of each session, including the date, time, duration, and type of service, ensuring an organized and transparent approach to their work.



Required Qualifications

    Possesses native-level fluency in both Haitian Creole and English, enabling effective communication across language barriers.

  • Demonstrates relevant professional experience in interpretation and translation, showcasing a strong background in the field.

  • Exhibits a high degree of cultural sensitivity and an ability to engage effectively with diverse populations, fostering inclusive interactions.
  • Consistently displays high emotional intelligence, reliability, and a strong commitment to delivering quality service.
  • Eligibility Requirement - US Citizen (This requirement is necessary to meet the security and eligibility requirements for the performance of this contract).
