Job Description
Job Summary:

Mercury Systems is seeking the best and brightest talent to help us bring cutting-edge technology to mission-critical aerospace and defense applications, advancing innovation where it matters most. Join our team as a Test Engineer II in our Mixed Signal business unit, where you'll support comprehensive test strategies for sophisticated mission-critical embedded technology designed to withstand the most rugged environments. This role provides hands-on experience in digital hardware testing, ASIC/FPGA verification support, and environmental qualification testing for aerospace and defense applications. You will work under the guidance of senior engineers to execute test plans, develop test automation software, assist with test fixture design, and contribute to formal qualification documentation.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Execute Design Verification Test (DVT) procedures for complex digital circuits, modules, and systems including ASIC integration and FPGA verification under senior engineer supervision
  • Assist in the design and assembly of test fixtures, cable harnesses, and test interface boards for digital subsystems
  • Develop and maintain automated test scripts using Python and/or LabVIEW for instrument control, data acquisition, and automated reporting
  • Support test firmware development for embedded targets including SPI/I2C/UART communication protocols
  • Execute environmental and qualification testing per MIL-STD-810H (thermal, vibration, shock) and MIL-STD-461G (EMI/EMC) standards following established procedures
  • Perform functional testing of digital interfaces including PCIe, Ethernet, DDR SDRAM, and power sequencing circuits
  • Support burn-in testing, reliability testing campaigns, and data collection activities
  • Document test results and assist with root cause analysis on test failures under senior engineer guidance
  • Develop test procedures and contribute to formal test reports with requirements traceability
  • Maintain test equipment calibration records and support configuration management of test assets
  • Support production test handoff activities including documentation and knowledge transfer
  • Interface with design engineering, program management, and manufacturing to support technical test activities


Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field, or equivalent relevant experience
  • Typically requires 2-4 years of related experience in electronics test engineering
  • Hands-on experience testing digital electronics or embedded systems
  • Programming experience in Python and/or LabVIEW for test automation and data analysis
  • Familiarity with RF and digital test equipment: oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, spectrum analyzers, network analyzers, signal generators, power supplies, and environmental chambers
  • Basic understanding of digital communication protocols (SPI, I2C, UART, Ethernet)
  • Ability to follow detailed test procedures and document results accurately
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to obtain a DoD Secret clearance. US Citizenship is required.
  • Travel approximately 10-15% to external test facilities


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Electrical Engineering
  • Experience with AI-assisted development tools (Claude Code, Cursor, GitHub Copilot, or similar) for test automation development
  • Experience testing FPGA-based systems or mixed-signal electronics
  • Exposure to MIL-STD test standards (810, 461, or similar)
  • Experience with test fixture design or PCB layout tools
  • Familiarity with C/C++, MATLAB, or scripting languages
  • Knowledge of high-speed digital interfaces (PCIe, DDR, high-speed serial)
  • Experience with requirements management tools (JAMA, DOORS)
  • Understanding of Design for Test (DFT) principles
  • Previous experience in aerospace, defense, or ruggedized electronics industries
  • Existing Secret clearance or higher

Pay Grade Range
Fulltime Equivalent Job Grade Salary Range for this position
* $65,200.00 - $130,400.00 annual salary for in-office or hybrid employees in FL, GA, IN, AZ, AL, MD or TX, and all remote employees
* $73,000.00 - $146,000.00 annual salary for in-office or hybrid employees in VA, CA, NH or MA
* $76,900.00 - $153,900.00 annual salary for in-office or hybrid employees in NJ
