| Primary Purpose of Department |
The Office of OneIT provides highly reliable information technology infrastructure, tools and services to empower the University to achieve its academic, research, administrative and service goals. |
| Primary Purpose of Position |
The Information Security Analyst position is responsible for supporting the security operations center and monitoring real-time data, discovering security events, analyzing qualified events, recommending a remediation path, and escalating the security event to the appropriate senior team member. |
| Summary of Position Responsibilities |
- Create playbooks and support documentation for the Security Operations Center.
- Working knowledge of email security, endpoint security, network security, and security incident and event management (SIEM) tools.
- Monitor endpoints and network traffic for unusual or malicious activities.
- Investigate security incidents using the incident response process.
- Evaluate hardware for compliance with established baselines.
- Provide security best practices and advise on security-related matters.

| Minimum Education/Experience |
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, information security, or other closely related field, and
- 2+ years of relevant work experience; or
- An equivalent combination of education and relevant work experience.

| Preferred Education, Knowledge, Skills and Experience |
- Knowledge and experience with implementing and assessing compliance with information technology and privacy protection regulations and standards such as FERPA, HIPAA, PCI-DSS, and other institutional technology standards and best practices defined by NIST, ISO 27000 series, CIS, OWASP, and SANS Top 20 Security Controls.
- Understanding and experience with network and security architecture, multiple operating system platforms, identity management, access control, databases, web applications, and other evolving mobile and cloud technologies, to include but not limited to the following: malware inspection, traditional and application layer firewalls, VPN, identity management systems, data loss prevention, and network and host-based intrusion detection/prevention systems.
- Formal education or professional experience in information assurance and/or information security management.
- Ability to perform comfortably in a fast-paced, deadline-oriented work environment.
- Ability to successfully execute many complex tasks in rapid succession.
