MTSI is seeking a Senior Systems Engineer to support the development of a low-cost surface to air missile system. You will provide systems engineering expertise and program/acquisition support to the Government Team Lead. You will play a key role in shaping program objectives, developing integrated roadmaps and schedules, informing budget planning, and preparing documentation that supports technical and programmatic decisions.
In this role, you will deliver senior-level technical support across requirements development, systems engineering planning, technical baseline management, and formal ACAT like review processes. You will evaluate engineering products, coordinate technical documentation, manage deficiency resolution activities, and help ensure consistent application of systems engineering standards throughout the program lifecycle.
You will collaborate routinely with multi-disciplinary engineering, acquisition, test, operations, and security teams to ensure integrated, technically sound program execution. Your work will directly support program management in executing milestones, maintaining alignment to program objectives, and ensuring the successful delivery of mission-critical capabilities.
Must be ready to embrace the Department of War (DoW) Acquisition Transformation Strategy which mandates a fundamental, wartime-footing shift from a compliance-heavy, slow process to a "Warfighting Acquisition System" (WAS) prioritized for speed, commercial technology, and high-risk tolerance.

Responsibilities:
- Provide engineering support for program management execution of a new start surface to air offensive counter-air system. Work with program teams to develop program objectives, integrated roadmaps, detailed schedules, and program budgets.
- Support the development of technical documentation including, but not limited to, statements of work and specifications, leadership briefs, specific engineering briefs related to the subject matter.
- Analyze vendor proposals as permitted by law and regulation. Facilitate and provide engineering support throughout the design, integration, and test and execution processes.
- Apply integration, communication, coordination, organizational and planning expertise to technical research and development activities and acquisition across a broad spectrum of functional disciplines to assist with the implementation of program direction.
- Plan, organize and manage critical aspects of the development, production, and/or development of systems, sub-systems, or equipment, to include managing program cost, schedule, and performance.
- Assist in milestone planning, tracking, scheduling, briefing preparations, staff coordination, and decision documentation preparation.
- Gather data, conduct analyses, evaluation, and validations of acquisition programmatic documentation.
- Assist the program office in complying with applicable statutory and regulatory guidance.
- Assist in the creation and approval of acquisition strategies, program planning and creation, early capability development strategies and project planning, and the transition of program execution to the appropriate Program Executive Officer.
- Develop integration plans and procedures and organize resources to facilitate program transition activities.
- Develop and communicate roadmaps for programs and associated technologies and product lines.
- Establish trusted and influential relationships with customers, suppliers, and other stakeholders.
- Work both individually and with a broader engineering, program management, and security team.
- Work on multiple networks across various classification levels, adhering to all security policies, procedures, and processes.
- Apply expertise to technical R&D activities, providing actionable insights for acquisition planning and program implementation.
- Support program cost, schedule, and performance management across development and production phases.
- Manage system requirements to ensure the delivery of production systems are compatible with the defined system architecture(s), specifically the Weapon Open System Architecture.
Qualifications:
Required:
- Bachelor of Science degree in systems engineering, mathematics, physics, or a similar field and 8-14 years of relevant experience.
- Be a self-starter, thrive in a dynamic environment, can accomplish high-level tasks independently, is skilled in problem definition, and work well with other team members, members of the Senior Executive Service and senior military officers.
- Ability to coordinate with both internal and external organizations to accomplish common goals.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, Teams).
- Highly adept with Model-based systems engineering (MBSE).
- Ability to learn new tools and adopt digital engineering business practices.
- Must have knowledge of military platforms, systems, and operations, specifically surface to air missile systems.
- Familiar with implementing Mission Engineering processes IAW DoD Mission Engineering Guide 2.0
- Must have experience with collaboration tools including but not limited to: Confluence and/or Jira.
- Must have excellent oral and written communication skills and the ability to clearly translate client technical needs and assimilate project information.
Desired:
- Master of Science/Master of Engineering (MS/ME) degree in systems engineering, mathematics, physics, or a similar field is highly desired with 6-12 years of relevant experience.
Clearance Requirements:
- Top Secret
- Must be eligible for Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) access.
