About the Gene and Cell Therapy Institute (GCTI) - The Gene and Cell Therapy Institute (GCTI) at Mass General Brigham advances the development and translation of transformative genetic medicines. The Institute brings together leading investigators, clinicians, and industry partners to accelerate innovation across gene therapy, genome editing, and cell-based therapies. Through integrated platforms, translational programs, and strategic collaborations, GCTI is focused on delivering scalable, impactful therapies to patients.
Role Summary - The Project Manager will support complex, multi-institutional programs, with a primary focus on ARPA-H-funded initiatives, while also contributing across broader GCTI programs and strategic initiatives. This role will coordinate across scientific and operational teams to ensure alignment with milestone-driven objectives, while maintaining flexibility to adapt across evolving roles and priorities as GCTI needs shift.
The Project Manager will partner closely with program leadership, investigators, and collaborators to support execution, maintain accountability, and enable the successful delivery of high-impact programs across the Institute.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Project Management & Execution (Multi-Institutional ARPA-H Programs)
-Lead day-to-day coordination and execution of a multi-institutional ARPA-H THRIVE program focused on neurovascular applications of genome editing, ensuring alignment with aggressive milestones, timelines, and deliverables
-Develop and maintain integrated project plans, including dependencies, to drive execution toward clinical development milestones
-Coordinate meetings with internal teams, sub-performers, and external collaborators to ensure alignment, accountability, and timely execution
-Manage meeting agendas, and action tracking across committees and stakeholders
-Prepare and manage program deliverables, including ARPA-H reports, milestone updates, and internal briefings
-Maintain centralized trackers, dashboards, and documentation to support program transparency
-Monitor performance, and support mitigation strategies; escalate issues to leadership as needed to maintain program momentum
Communications, Events & External Engagement
-Support institute-wide communications, including marketing emails, newsletters, and digital content, while maintaining web and online platforms to ensure content is current and aligned with Institute branding
-Aid the coordination, planning and execution of key events, including the Annual Symposium and monthly hybrid seminar series
-Manage stakeholder communications, conference materials, and program content
GCTI Programs & Broader Strategic Initiatives
-Support cross-institute programs, new funding initiatives, and program launches aligned with GCTI priorities
-Contribute to portfolio tracking, internal reporting, and synthesis of program outcomes across different initiatives
-Provide flexible support for Institute-wide priorities, including collaborations and strategic efforts

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelors degree required (experience can be considered in lieu of a degree); Advanced degree (PhD) in life sciences, biomedical sciences, gene editing, or a relevant gene therapy-related discipline highly preferred
  • At least 2-3 years of program management experience required
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in life science consulting, project management highly preferred

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience supporting federally funded programs (e.g., ARPA-H, NIH, DARPA)
  • Domain expertise in genome editing, neuroscience, CNS, cardiovascular, or vascular biology
  • Experience working across academia-industry collaborations
  • Experience within an academic medical center or university setting, with a strong scientific foundation

SKILLS/ABILITIES/COMPETENCIES:

  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and competing priorities in a fast-paced, cross-functional environment
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with academic investigators and industry partners
  • Familiarity with translational research and/or clinical development processes
  • Demonstrated ability to operate independently (ability to own the projects) while effectively coordinating across multidisciplinary teams, including faculty, institutional leadership, and external partners
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented, with the ability to manage multiple priorities, adapt to shifting timelines, and deliver under pressure
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to translate complex scientific concepts into clear, accessible communications for varied audiences
  • Strong stakeholder management skills and ability to drive discussions
  • Proven problem-solving and analytical capabilities, with sound judgment in navigating complex, fast-paced program environments
  • Comfortable working in dynamic environments with a high degree of ambiguity
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Excel and program management tools
  • Demonstrated discretion in handling sensitive and confidential information


Working Conditions:

  • This is an onsite role, mostly at the GCTI offices with occasional team meetings at MGH
