What does your next challenge look like?

At SATAIR, we believe in sustainable aviation that allows people to travel and connect across the globe.

We are on a mission to provide world class material solutions that keep aircraft flying and extend their lifespan.

In Satair, you can challenge the status quo, pioneer new ways of working, and generate real value for airlines and suppliers worldwide.

Being part of the Airbus family gives us the opportunity to live a global mindset, working in international and diverse teams and collaborating across functions, sites and cultures.

If you want to work as one team embracing a can-do attitude in a demanding environment, then we offer a great place to explore, learn, and grow, making an impact on aviation's digital and sustainable transformation.

In this context we are looking for a Head of Kitting Operations to join our team in Dulles, VA.

HOW YOU WILL CONTRIBUTE TO THE TEAM:

Primary Responsibilities:

[Operations]: 60%

  • Direct Production Ownership: Lead the internal "Production Activity Control" and "Preparation" teams to execute the daily kitting schedule. Own the transition from global A220 forecasts into physical floor-level output.

  • A220 Program Integration: Act as the site lead for A220-specific kitting requirements, ensuring all components, carpentry (crating), and documents meet Satair's rigorous "Time to Fly" standards.

  • Performance Recovery & Delta Management: Proactively monitor production KPIs. When targets are missed, perform deep-dive root cause analysis and implement immediate "back-to-green" recovery plans.

  • Inventory & Asset Protection: Direct oversight of the kitting footprint. Ensure 100% component traceability and rigorous cycle counting to maintain financial and operational integrity.

  • Safety & Regulatory Compliance: Maintain a "Safety First" environment. Ensure the facility remains compliant with FAA/EASA standards, OSHA requirements, and internal Satair quality audits.

[Leadership]:30%

  • Cultivate a high-performance culture by leading, mentoring, and developing all talent within the [Function] department. Own the full employee lifecycle, from hiring and onboarding to performance management and career pathing, to build a robust talent pipeline.

  • Champion a culture of engagement and accountability where every team member is empowered to uphold the highest standards of safety, quality, and performance. Implement and oversee recognition and feedback programs to drive continuous improvement.

  • Develop and manage the labor plan for the kitting team, aligning staffing levels, scheduling, and skill sets with operational forecasts and daily volume fluctuations to consistently meet performance targets.

  • Set clear performance expectations and own the performance management process for the department, providing regular, constructive coaching and holding the team accountable for results. Resolve complex, escalated issues and ensure the team's training and skill certifications are always current.

[Team Development]: 5%

  • Design and implement career-pathing frameworks within the kitting team to foster professional growth and increase employee retention.

  • Identify and actively mentor high-potential talent, creating a clear succession plan for key roles within the department, including your own.

  • Partner with senior leadership to develop training programs that address critical skill gaps and prepare the team for future business needs.

[Additional Responsibilities]: 5%

  • Lead large-scope projects with site and regional impact designed to evolve the business model.

  • Adapt to growth and changes within the business as needed.

  • Work in a backup capacity for other warehouse leaders and deputize for senior management in meetings when necessary.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.
