Learn About a Day in the Life of a Medical Assistant:

  • Escorts patients to exam room and prepares patient for exam or treatment.
  • Obtain patients vital signs and reviews medication and allergy lists.
  • Perform EKGS and properly hooks up to holter monitors and treadmills.
  • Demonstrates an understanding of dysrhythmiaand events which can adversely affect the patient during stress testing.
  • Maintains exam rooms for necessary supplies and materials and ensures cleanliness per OSHA guidelines.
  • Assists during nuclear stress testing procedure under the supervision of the physician.
  • Assists in preparing charts, faxing diagnostic imaging reports and making copies.

Job Requirements:

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • BLS certification must be obtained within 14 days of hire or transfer into the role and prior to providing direct patient care.

Preferred Job Requirements:

  • Associate's degree.
  • Graduate from an accredited medical assistant/medical technologist school/program or two years of MA experience.
  • Current national certification as a Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA).
