Job Description Summary POSITION OBJECTIVE: This Warehouse Lead is responsible for overseeing and coordinating warehouse and yard operations to ensure efficient distribution, accurate inventory management, and proper handling/return of equipment. The Warehouse Lead will direct a team of laborers and support staff in loading/unloading trucks, maintaining inventory accuracy, and upholding cleanliness and organization in the warehouse and yard areas. This role involves operating and ensuring proper use of loading equipment, delivering excellent customer service in a polite, friendly, and professional manner, and driving safety, productivity, and quality standards. The Lead will train, guide, and motivate team members while collaborating with the Warehouse Supervisor to meet operational goals. DUTIES & ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Leads and coordinates the selection of items from stock, assembly of orders, and preparation for shipment according to instructions and established procedures.
- Validate contract reservations and pick lists for accuracy, including custom items.
- Oversees the safe conveyance of materials using equipment such as forklifts, hand trucks, dollies, or other mechanical warehouse tools; ensures team members are properly trained and compliant with equipment operation standards.
- Applies and enforces thorough knowledge of equipment loading techniques to eliminate damage and facilitate efficient unloading at job sites.
- Supervises the receipt and opening of shipping containers; verifies counts against driver loads and resolves discrepancies promptly.
- Ensures equipment is restocked according to company procedures and maintains accurate inventory records.
- Monitors truck loading quality and reports issues such as poor loading practices, damaged equipment, or other concerns to the Warehouse Supervisor; recommends process improvements.
- Trains, mentors, and provides work direction to warehouse team members; assigns tasks, monitors performance, and fosters a collaborative, high-performance environment.
- Leads by example in maintaining a clean, organized, and safe warehouse and yard area.
OTHER FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Performs or oversees minor repairs to equipment as needed.
- Supports the maintenance of an organized shop by ensuring tools and unused parts are returned to proper locations.
- Conducts or assists with inventory counts of merchandise and advises the Supervisor of low stock levels or reorder needs.
- Fills in for other positions as required to support smooth business operations.
- Adheres to and enforces all company policies, procedures, rules, and regulations (written or verbal).
- Ensures compliance with government safety requirements and other regulations; leads safety initiatives and participates in or conducts department safety meetings.
- Reports any safety violations or incidents to the Warehouse Supervisor promptly and takes corrective action as appropriate.
- Identifies opportunities for process improvements, waste reduction, and enhanced efficiency.
- Performs other duties as requested by the Warehouse Supervisor.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school diploma or equivalent GED.
- Minimum 3-5 years of prior warehouse or manufacturing experience, including at least 1-2 years in a lead, supervisory, or training capacity (preferred).
- Proven ability to lift approximately 70 lbs. repeatedly and safely.
- Strong mathematical skills to solve problems related to inventory, measurements, and loading calculations.
- Ability to maintain a professional appearance with a clean uniform.
- Clear spoken English and legible writing skills for effective communication and documentation.
- Must pass company background check and drug screen and maintain an acceptable attendance record.
- Full range of motion and manual dexterity.
- Ability to understand, interpret, and provide instructions in written, oral, or scheduled form.
- Demonstrated leadership skills, including the ability to train, motivate, and maintain cooperative working relationships with co-workers and team members.
- Knowledge of forklift and material handling equipment operation, with appropriate certification (or ability to obtain).
Base Pay Range: $21.38 - 29.39
