What to Expect
The Onsite Medical Nurse provides best practice medical care for acute, work-related and non-work-related medical emergencies for employees in an automotive manufacturing factory. Shift:Monday - Thursday, 8:00 PM - 6:00 AM
What You'll Do
- Providesclinicalassessment,triage,first aid treatment and/or stabilization,disposition(i.e., return to workor home;referral to emergency room, urgent careor external physicianappointment; referral to personal physician for non-work-related conditions)andlimited follow-upfor anarray of medical emergencies and semi-emergenciesincluding but not limited to the below
- Work-related:orthopedic trauma including sprains, fractures and acute-onset pain;burns,contusions, abrasions and lacerations; crushandamputationinjuries; eye injuries including foreign bodies; chemical, thermal (heat), electrical,and other environmentalexposures.Non-work-related:near syncope (fainting),loss of consciousness, chest pain, headache, seizures, shortness of breath, dizziness, fever, abdominal pain; anaphylaxis, hives; panic attack, acute confusion,and other psychiatric decompensation; diabetic emergencies
- Obtains, documentsand communicatesverbally and in writing:focused history of injury or illness, pertinent medical history, mechanism of injuryand other circumstantial and historical information to differentiate work-relatedness from non-work-relatedness; return to work or follow-up instructions to: Emergency Medicine Physician(Supervisor); Employee (Patient),EMT, Supervisors, Health and Safety Managers (EHS),and the Onsite Medical Staff
- Evaluatesfitness for dutyto return to work, including review ofnotes from physicians/providers,for employeesafterhaving been referred toemergency roomor urgent care
- Workswith emergency medical technicians (EMTs) to respond to acute medical emergencies.Most work will be conducted from a dedicated Triage and First Aidfacility butmay require field response to supportEMTs
- As a Tesla employee,reports to and worksunderthe directclinicalsupervision of a Board Certified Emergency Medicine physician (independent contractor, off-site)
What You'll Bring
- Bachelor's Degreein Nursing(BSN) from an accredited, four-year college or university
- Currently licensed Registered Nurse (RN) in the State of Texas or Compact license, in good standing with no disciplinary actions
- Minimum 3 years' experience in emergency room, urgent care, trauma center, or similar acute care environmentsencompassing the scope of acute medicalemergenciesdescribed above
- Current and activetraining in BLS, ACLS and PALS
- Experience with documentation in an electronic medical record (EMR)
