* Base Pay Range: $56,596.80-$89,419.20/per year, based on experience

ABOUT THE JOB

MU Health Care is looking for a compassionate and dedicated Clinical Dietitian to join our multidisciplinary team at the Weight Management & Metabolic Center in Columbia, Missouri. As a key member of the patient care team, the dietitian provides medical nutrition therapy to patients seeking weight loss through our medically supervised weight loss program or bariatric surgery. Our dietitians at the Weight Management & Metabolic Center teach a variety of pre and post operative nutrition classes both in-person and virtually and also provide individual nutrition counseling to patients. As a key member of our interdisciplinary patient care team, you'll be the guiding light in the nutrition care process, providing exceptional care through assessment, diagnosis, interventions, and continuous monitoring and evaluation. DETAILED JOB DESCRIPTION

Provide patient care by conducting nutrition assessments on patients or clients according to standards of care, policies, and protocol. Accurately make nutrition diagnoses when appropriate that can be supported by assessment data. Individualize nutrition interventions for each patient or client. Consistently monitor patient or client progress toward goals. Prioritize care to provide coverage for other units or areas when another dietitian is absent.

Provide ongoing nutrition education. This includes education for dietetic students and interns, assessment of educational needs and provision of nutrition counseling for individuals or groups, development and revision of patient education materials, and participation in community projects and education as needed. Share information learned from educational meetings and webinars with peers.

Effectively communicate with nursing, medical, and other hospital staff to ensure high-quality nutritional care for patients or clients. Regularly attend interdisciplinary rounds, discharge planning, and patient care conferences for effective communication with appropriate team members. Act as a resource to medical staff and allied health personnel on nutrition issues.

Facilitate clinical nutrition business practices by assigning and directing the workload of dietitians and diet technicians. Assist in achieving compliance with regulatory standards. Identify opportunities to increase awareness of nutrition services. Participate in planning and developing nutrition-related policies, procedures, processes, protocols, and goals. Participate in the orientation of new clinical nutrition staff as well as the ongoing training of dietitians and diet technicians in areas of expertise.

Identify and collect performance improvement data, monitor outcomes, and initiate corrective actions. Keep the manager informed about issues and problems impacting the work area. Assist in determining solutions and highlight positive actions or behaviors.

Keep professional development current with your own level of nutrition care expertise to assure evidence-based practice for patients or clients, staff, students, and the community.

May complete unit/department specific duties and expectations as outlined in department documents.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Dietitian licensure from the Missouri Committee of Dietitians board.

Registered Dietitian (RD) or Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) from the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR)

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Master's degree. Additional license/certification requirements as determined by the hiring department.

The performance of these physical demands is an essential function of the job. This position is very active and requires ambulating, reaching, and moving objects weighing up to and over 20 lbs. This role also routinely comes into contact with patients who may have contagious illnesses.
