Modern Technology Solutions, Inc. (MTSI) is seeking an Intermediate / Senior Simulation and Algorithm Engineer in Huntsville Alabama to develop software products, analytical tools and simulation frameworks supporting real world data analysis for current and emerging space-based sensors.This position supports Missile Defense Agency Space Sensors (MDA/SS) Program Office and Space Systems Command (SSC) initiatives, including Discriminating Space Sensor (DSS), OPIR Modeling and Analysis Center (OMAC), and other Space Surveillance Fire Control efforts.The role will also contribute to analysis and tool development for emerging sensor technologies, including event-based sensing.
Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Develop software products including analytical tools, modeling components, and simulation frameworks for mission data processing and analysis
  • Create and maintain software modules supporting scene generation, sensor modeling, and algorithm evaluation
  • Generate composite synthetic scenes representing envisioned spacebased sensors, incorporating orbital parameters, acquisition geometries, sensor characteristics, backgrounds, and target features
  • Analyze endtoend signal processing chains, including sensitivity, detection performance, and track quality in cluttered environments
  • Perform analysis of prototype and operational sensor data and algorithms to assess missile defense operational suitability
  • Participate in software development workflows including version control, documentation, code reviews, and integration of reusable components
Requirements:
  • Current Secret security clearance required, with eligibility for TS-SCI
  • 5+ years of related experience
  • Current knowledge of software development methodology and tools
  • Ability to depict technical approaches, designs, block diagrams, algorithms, and implementations in written and graphical form
Desired:
  • Proficiency with MATLAB
  • Familiarity with optical sensor design, data collections and analysis
  • Understanding of signal / image processing techniques EO/IR and RF
  • Recent hands-on experience with a software development team
Educational Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Applied Mathematics, or a related technical discipline (Master's degree preferred)
