Power Generation Technician / Mechanic - CAT 3600

Location: U.S. Based (HQ: Texas)

Employment Type: Direct Hire

Pay: $45-$52/hr + Overtime

We are seeking an experienced Power Generation Technician with deep expertise in Caterpillar 3600 series large-bore diesel engines. This role supports mission-critical power generation, compression, and industrial systems through advanced diagnostics, overhauls, and field service work.

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform advanced service, troubleshooting, and repair on CAT 3600 engines (3606, 3608, 3612, 3616)
• Execute top-end, mid-life, and major overhauls, including valve train work, power assembly R&R, and bearing inspections
• Diagnose complex mechanical, fuel, air, lubrication, and combustion issues
• Interpret OEM manuals, CAT SIS data, schematics, and performance diagnostics
• Support generator sets, compressors, and mechanical drive applications
• Conduct commissioning and post-maintenance performance validation
• Participate in outage planning, execution, and return-to-service operations
• Document findings, measurements, and root cause analysis accurately
• Mentor junior technicians during field outages
• Maintain strict compliance with safety standards (LOTO, confined space, hot work)

Qualifications:

• 5-10+ years of hands-on CAT 3600 series engine experience (required)
• Strong background in large-bore diesel engines for power generation or compression
• Experience with outages, turnarounds, and critical downtime events
• Ability to work independently in high-pressure field environments
• Strong mechanical aptitude with precision measurement and OEM tolerances
• Willingness to travel extensively
• Valid driver's license required

Preferred:

• CAT factory or dealer training on 3600 platforms
• Experience with generator or compressor packages
• OSHA certifications (10/30, confined space, LOTO)
• Exposure to CAT controls and monitoring systems
• Cummins large engine experience is a plus
