Job Description:

Description

Skyworks is seeking a highly skilled Engineering Technician to support the development, characterization, burn in, and qualification of high reliability optocoupler and RFIC products used in space, aerospace, and military semiconductor applications.
In this role, you will work hands on with microcircuits and semiconductor devices, performing electrical, visual, environmental, and burn in testing-including HTOL, HTRB, steady state life, accelerated stress, and temperature cycling-to ensure compliance with stringent MIL STD and space grade requirements.
You will execute test plans, perform isolation and reliability testing, assist in root cause analysis, and support the design and checkout of specialized test fixtures and optical setups. Daily activities include working from schematics, assembly diagrams, lot travelers, process specifications, and SOPs to assemble, troubleshoot, and validate semiconductor hardware with full traceability.
This position requires strong proficiency with lab instrumentation-including oscilloscopes, DMMs, curve tracers, SMUs, power supplies, and optical measurement tools-as well as soldering skills. The ideal candidate is detail oriented, quality driven, and comfortable working within aerospace/defense standards and documentation practices.

Responsibilities

  • Support the design, testing, and assembly of optocoupler and RFIC devices for space and military microcircuit applications.
  • Perform burn in and reliability testing, including HTOL, HTRB, steady state life, accelerated stress testing, temperature cycling, and environmental stress screening.
  • Conduct temperature testing, thermal characterization, and environmental evaluations to validate device reliability.
  • Perform operational testing and assist in root cause analysis of electrical, optical, and mechanical issues.
  • Apply MIL PRF 38534, MIL STD 883, MIL PRF 19500, MIL STD 750, and other high reliability screening and qualification standards.
  • Work from schematics, assembly diagrams, lot travelers, process specifications, and SOPs to execute test and assembly tasks with full traceability.
  • Use oscilloscopes, DMMs, curve tracers, SMUs, power supplies, signal generators, and optical measurement equipment.
  • Support the design, construction, and checkout of specialized test fixtures, and automated test systems.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of test results, environmental and burn in data, device configurations, and traveler updates.
  • Ensure compliance with aerospace/defense quality standards, ESD controls, and safety protocols.

Required Experience and Skills

  • Associate degree in Electronics, Electrical Engineering Technology, or related technical field; or equivalent military/industry experience.
  • 3+ years of hands on experience in semiconductor, microcircuit, optoelectronic, or high reliability electronics testing.
  • Strong proficiency with lab equipment: oscilloscopes, DMMs, curve tracers, SMUs, power supplies, and signal generators.
  • Experience with burn in testing (HTOL, HTRB, life testing), temperature testing, environmental stress screening, or device characterization.
  • Ability to read and interpret schematics, assembly diagrams, lot travelers, process specs, and SOPs.
  • Skilled in soldering as part of troubleshooting and hardware rework.
  • Familiarity with MIL PRF 38534, MIL STD 883, MIL STD 750, MIL PRF 19500, or similar aerospace/defense standards.
  • Strong documentation skills and attention to detail for traceability and quality compliance.
  • Ability to work in an ESD controlled lab environment.

Desired Experience and Skills

  • Experience with optocouplers, optical isolation devices, optoelectronic components, and RF products.
  • Background in space grade or military grade semiconductor manufacturing, screening, or qualification testing.
  • Experience with automated test systems or data acquisition software.
  • Knowledge of radiation tolerant device testing or space environment characterization.
