Sr. Full Stack Developer [REMOTE within East or Central TZ]

Iteris is seeking a Sr. Full Stack Developer who will lead development projects and mentor a team of developers. This individual will architect and build robust web and database applications using modern technologies, including Node.js, Express.js, JavaScript/TypeScript, MapBox, Bootstrap, and Material UI. These applications will serve various purposes - consuming external data sources, functioning as complete Map-based web applications, or exposing secure APIs for data access.

Applications will be deployed and run on Amazon Web Services (AWS), leveraging services such as EC2, CloudFront, EventBridge, ELB, Lambda, S3, RDS (PostgreSQL), Docker, and CI/CD pipelines, along with integration tools like SendGrid and Twilio.

The ideal candidate will actively incorporate AI tools into their daily workflow to accelerate design, coding, debugging, and overall productivity. Must be capable of working independently with minimal supervision while thriving as a collaborative member of an agile development team.

What you will be doing:

• Lead full-stack (front-end and back-end) software development projects and mentor development team members
• Design and build modern, intuitive, and user-friendly web applications with a strong emphasis on User Experience (UX) and User Interface (UI) excellence
• Create accurate effort estimates and story point assignments for Scrum-based development projects.
• Collaborate with management, cross-functional teams, and customers to gather, analyze, and refine end-user requirements and technical specifications.
• Design efficient algorithms, data flows, and system architectures for new software solutions.
• Write clean, efficient, scalable, and maintainable code that meets business and technical requirements.
• Develop, test, and deploy high-quality applications using Test-Driven Development (TDD) practices.
• Troubleshoot, debug, maintain, and continuously improve existing software systems.
• Analyze user feedback and usage data to identify opportunities and drive product enhancements.
• Develop and maintain comprehensive technical documentation to support ongoing and future development efforts.
• Support the full Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), including mentoring junior developers and providing technical guidance.
• Contribute to the preparation of proposal responses (RFPs, RFIs, etc.).
• Monitor customer systems in production and rapidly resolve incidents and issues.
• Percentage of travel: 2% - Very infrequent, if at all, less than two weeks a year

What you need to be successful in this role:

• Four (4) year accredited technical degree preferred, or equivalent professional experience
• Over four to seven (4-7) years of experience with build NodeJS server applications, responsive web design and programming, JavaScript, TypeScript, Sass, Angular, and a responsive framework such as Bootstrap
• Experience with PostgreSQL, MySQL or other SQL databases
• Design and implementation of APIs and/or Endpoints
• Must reside in the Continental USA. Preferably East or Central time zones.
• Experience with database schema design, ingesting data and database access layers
• Experience implementing map based web sites using MapBox, Google Maps, Apple Maps, and/or HERE
• Native Mobile iOS and/or Android app development in Swift, Kotlin and/or Java
• Python scripting language
• Git version control system

Iteris anticipates paying a base salary between $109,500 and $121,900 for this role. Actual pay offered may be below or above these amounts, depending on the individual's job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
