Come join our team! MPS, a division of Macmillan Publishers, a leading US publisher of Trade and Academic titles, has a job opening for a Computer Operator in our Gordonsville facility. MPS provides back office support, warehousing, and, fulfillment for Macmillan US, and is their primary distribution facility for North America. POSITION SUMMARY: This position is responsible for all aspects of computer operations on assigned shifts. Review clarity and accuracy of documentation, ensure adherence to operational and help desk procedures, and coordinate with both technical and programming staff to ensure smooth work flow for job turnovers with corresponding documentation and procedures. Education and/or Experience: High school diploma or equivalent; and one to three years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Language Skills: Ability to read and interpret documents such as computer run sheets, technical testing procedures, technical documentation manuals, write routine reports and correspondences, and the ability to communicate effectively to employees, management and vendors. Mathematical Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, decimals, and percent. Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Must be able to make decisions within area of training during downtime, in a crisis mode, and while troubleshooting problems, or if problem is outside area of training call appropriate personnel for assistance. Other skills and abilities: Computer skills to include Microsoft Office and Outlook; IBM ISeries computers, HP VMS and general desktop computer operations. Capabilities:
