Responsibilities

Salary Range

The annual salary range for this position is $136,000-$279,100 plus incentive bonus. The base salary indicated for this position reflects the compensation range applicable to all levels of the role across the United States. Actual salary offers within this range may vary based on a number of factors, including the specific responsibilities of the position, the candidate's relevant skills and professional experience, educational qualifications, and geographic location.

Position Summary

The Commercial Credit Products Director Sr is a senior leader responsible for connecting the credit process and alignment in partnership with key delivery teams; specifically, the in-market support, documentation, and loan closing teams to create banker capacity while driving a more predictable experience for customers and team members. This role will directly work with all team members in the delivery process specifically: credit approvers, underwriters, and portfolio management for Business Banking, Commercial, Corporate, and Specialty clients. This is a highly visible role that proactively engages across the enterprise, shaping balanced growth and consistently modeling confidence and predictability for team members and customers.

Specifically, this role sits at the intersection of credit process, strategy, portfolio management, risk governance, and client engagement, shaping the process and engagement supporting growth while protecting the bank through disciplined risk management. The senior leader will work with the all teams to design and continuously evolve the delivery process to improve efficiency, consistency, and scalability; leverage technology and data; and strengthen controls-while partnering closely with Frontline Originators, Credit Policy, Risk Management, Credit Approvers, and Independent Risk Review. The Sr. Director is expected to bring sound judgment to complex processes, encourages thoughtful risktaking, and ensures balance in the underwriting practices reflecting the bank's risk appetite, portfolio objectives, and longterm client relationships.

Key Accountabilities

Enterprise Alignment

    Translate credit strategy and risk appetite into clear processes, standards, and segmentspecific approaches to improve customer experience and our turnaround time.
  • Partner with the business to balance growth, returns, and risk concentration across industries, geographies, and products.
  • Actively monitor industry trends, technology themes, and emerging risks with third parties; provide forwardlooking insights and recommendations evolving the delivery process.
  • Ensure underwriting and monitoring practices support portfolio optimization and free up revenue teams to focus on revenue activities versus performing non-customer-facing activities.

Underwriting Partnership

  • Partner with executive leaders representing revenue teams with external insight, data and examples of underwriting and portfolio management processes for Corporate, Middle Market, C&I and Business Banking teams.
  • Provide insight on underwriting processes that scale appropriately by complexity, risk, and customer need.

Process Design, Technology & Efficiency

  • Lead the endtoend design and continuous enhancement of the end-to-end customer acquisition process.
  • Drive simplification, standardization, and control discipline while maintaining flexibility for differentiated customer segments and products.
  • Champion the thoughtful use of technology, data, workflow tools, and automation to improve cycle times, decision quality, and capacity utilization.
  • Partner with technology, analytics, and data teams to evolve underwriting tools, decision support, and collateral data integration.

Customer Engagement & Partnership

  • Enable strong customer experiences while maintaining sound credit judgment and risk discipline.
  • Engage directly with clientfacing leadership-and selectively with customers-on complex or strategic relationships to align structure, risk, and longterm value.
  • Foster a partnership mindset where underwriting serves as a trusted advisor to the business, balancing client needs with sustainable portfolio outcomes.

Talent & Organizational Leadership

  • Promote and develop a highperforming organization with deep credit expertise, strong portfolio orientation, and customer awareness.

Qualifications and Education Requirements

Required

  • 15+ years of progressive experience in commercial credit, underwriting, or risk management within a large, complex financial institution.
  • Executivelevel leadership experience overseeing multisegment commercial underwriting and portfolios.
  • Deep expertise across commercial products including C&I, CRE, specialty finance, and complex structured transactions.
  • Strong understanding of portfolio management, collateral valuation, and credit lifecycle risk in a regulated environment.
  • Demonstrated success leading enterprise credit process transformation and technologyenabled change.
  • Exceptional executive presence with the ability to influence senior leaders, risk partners, and regulators.

Preferred

  • Experience at a large regional or national bank with diversified commercial and specialty portfolios.
  • Proven track record integrating underwriting, portfolio management, and customercentric credit decisioning.
  • Experience modernizing collateral management, appraisal governance, or underwriting analytics.
  • Advanced degree in finance, economics, business, or related field; MBA preferred.
