PURPOSE OF THE JOB

Owens Corning's Global Information Services (GIS) provides a technology platform that supports the company's growing global business needs. In this organization, the GIO Technical Financial Analyst is a key resource accountable for providing leadership and support to the Global Infrastructure and Operations (GIO) organization in the key areas of financial analysis, accounting control, purchasing administration, vendor invoicing, telecom and contract management.

Working closely with GIO leadership and team members, internal stakeholders (corporate finance and sourcing functions) and third parties, the GIO Technical Financial Analyst provides a critical service to the organization by ensuring complex elements such as contracts, leases, purchase requisitions, and invoicing are managed correctly and the policies and procedures used to support these areas are effective and efficient. This will be done by applying a high attention to detail, being organized, having a service mindset, along with sound understanding of financial and accounting practices and contracts management. The role also provides valuable input and recommendations that help build year over year efficient budget plan. In addition, the ability to continuously improve or build new automated procedures will be required to ensure that those methods are current and meet the standards of the GIO team.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

Knowing Our Businesses and their Strategies



  • Develop and maintain a strong understanding of Owens Corning specific business, finance, and accounting processes and operations locally and globally
  • Build relationships within the organization, cross-functionally, and with key business stakeholders; continuously enhance connection to remain aligned with core objectives
  • Understand how IT financial analysis and budget processes are directly aligned with the company's strategic objectives by regularly engaging with key business and external stakeholders
  • Position yourself as an advisor and advocate that brings the expertise, knowledge, and the delivery ownership of the role and associated practice



Executing Strategy

Financial Analysis and Accounting Control



  • Process all spending and invoices promptly to avoid supplier or partner service interruptions; report and remediate issues with payments, inaccuracies, or missing invoices
  • Work with stakeholders and project managers to collect data and submit a monthly expense forecast aligned with accuracy targets
  • Manage monthly cross-charge process and financial allocations to appropriate function and/or business cost centers; continuously track and report while partnering with key stakeholders to address any inconsistencies
  • Accountable for monthly and quarterly financial closing; ensure all needed accruals are submitted and processed
  • Provide monthly spending reports with in-depth analysis of gaps or variances versus forecasts, plans, or previous years; recommend and implement corrective actions
  • Annually, lead financial planning and budgeting by gathering and consolidating requirements from GIO stakeholders, sourcing, and finance partners; compare to prior year and report findings for leadership approval
  • Partner with stakeholders and project managers to monitor and track capital spend while ensuring consistent monthly forecast updates; validate in-service dates and work with owners on formal close out procedures
  • Work closely with regional and global members within the department and function to ensure appropriate financial analysis and accounting control measures are met
  • Assist GIS leaders or members with finance and accounting questions as needed


Contract Administration



  • Gain a thorough understanding of all contracts used by the organization, including maintenance agreements for hardware and software, services and support, equipment leases, and software or subscription acquisitions
  • Regularly report, track, and manage day-to-day vendor billing invoices to oversee usage and ensure compliance, verify volumes, quantities, terms, tax requirements, and routing while reconciling issues to ensure prompt payment
  • Build a reliable network of contacts among key suppliers and partners to respond to requirements for new services or equipment, and to resolve any invoice discrepancies that arise
  • During re-bid of current services or initiation of new requests for proposals (RFPs) for service, software, or equipment, actively participate and offer input related to usage reports, invoices, and other contractual or financial matters
  • Monitor contract life cycles and important dates; start renewal processes by involving relevant stakeholders to confirm contract scope and third parties as necessary. Once validation is complete, submit renewals for approval and signature



Acquisition and Purchasing Management



  • Work with corporate finance and global sourcing to understand and apply financial and sourcing procedures such as PR/PO, Capital Appropriation (CA), and Lease Authorization Workbook (LAW)
  • Ensure acquisition and purchasing documents meet corporate and global standards and submit them for approval to the corresponding leaders per LOA; partner with regional and global team to do the same
  • Help resolve challenges related to equipment or service acquisition when needed; for software of subscription purchases verify license or contract compliance with relevant stakeholders



Telecommunications Expense Management



  • Develop and maintain strong understanding of diverse telecommunications (telco) vendor installment across corporate and operations facilities; manage day-to-day administration to oversee usage and ensure compliance
  • At times leverage third party audit services to review and provide analysis on telco usage and needs while developing options for reduction or optimized spend
  • Partner closely with provider or service aggregators to consolidate contracts, billing, and payments for various telco requirements by country and/or region that creates efficiency and cost savings
  • Manage wireless partner implementation, set-up, and removal of service for site and/or employee connections that deliver required capabilities associated with business processes, mobility, and travel



JOB REQUIREMENTS

Minimum Qualifications



  • Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or related field
  • 5+ years of experience in financial planning, forecasting, and analysis, or 3+ years of experience supporting an IT or GIS organization, with demonstrated ownership of technology budgets, forecasts, and financial decision support.
  • Fully proficient with SAP ERP and very comfortable accessing and using multiple web-based supplier portals with a specific focus on transaction creation, data analysis, and reporting
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, with advanced working knowledge of Excel.
  • Practical, working experience with IT Service Management (ITSM) platforms such as ServiceNow, including the ability to interpret service, demand, or change data to support financial analysis and decisionmaking.


EXPERIENCE



  • Experience effectively interacting across multiple organizational levels, with strong communication skills and a consistent focus on delivering results.
  • Practical experience applying accounting principles, methodologies, and controls, particularly as they relate to technology costs, capitalization, accruals, and expense management.
  • Working knowledge of costing principles, P&L and balance sheet dynamics, and cost control and management practices, with the ability to apply these concepts to technology and IT enabled financial analysis and decision support.
  • Track record in influencing cross-functional teams and coordinating numerous initiatives to deliver positive results in a global, culturally diverse team environment



KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES



  • Working knowledge of the core functions, technologies, services, and domains of an IT organization, with the ability to understand and appropriately use technical terminology, acronyms, and concepts.
  • Ability to operate effectively in a highly matrixed environment, collaborating across organizations, teams, geographies, and cultural boundaries.
  • Ability to recognize areas for improvement while building a path for progress by developing strong functional and business partnerships and alignment for change
  • Ability to communicate complex financial or technical concepts clearly and confidently to diverse audiences across all levels of the organization, ensuring alignment with key stakeholders on assigned initiatives.
  • Demonstrated, applied knowledge of finance, accounting, and IT policies, procedures, methodologies, and standards, with the ability to independently apply this knowledge in a corporate or IT-enabled operating environment.
  • Ability to travel domestically or internationally as required, up to 5%
