Job Title: Construction Planner I Location(s): Phoenix, AZ Overview: Responsible for supporting the planning, design, and coordination of Hybrid Fiber Coax (HFC) network construction projects. This role focuses on field engineering, cost-effective routing, and coordination with internal teams, contractors, and external stakeholders to ensure timely and compliant project delivery. Key Responsibilities:
- Perform field engineering for proposed HFC projects, evaluating route options to determine the most cost-effective and efficient design.
- Conduct site surveys, verify serviceability, and define routing for new service installations.
- Estimate material, labor, and construction costs; assist in preparing budgets and tracking project expenses.
- Coordinate customer implementation activities including site walk-throughs, node placement, and activation planning.
- Work with contractors and subcontractors to ensure construction activities align with design specifications.
- Obtain permits, rights-of-way (ROW), and access agreements; coordinate with public works, utilities, developers, and property owners.
- Prepare and distribute design prints, work orders, and supporting documentation for construction teams.
- Maintain and update workflow systems, project schedules, and tracking databases.
- Support material planning, inventory coordination, and invoice verification.
- Assist in fiber allocation planning for splicing and network activation.
- Monitor construction progress and coordinate inspections as needed.
- Release completed service areas as serviceable and notify relevant departments.
- Close out completed projects by reconciling assets, updating systems, and generating reports.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED (or equivalent work experience).
- 0-2 years of experience in telecommunications, construction planning, or a related field.
- Basic understanding of HFC networks or willingness to learn.
- Strong organizational and multitasking skills.
- Basic computer proficiency (project tracking tools, spreadsheets, documentation systems).
- Valid driver's license and ability to travel to field locations.
- Effective communication skills for coordination with internal teams and external stakeholders.
Work Environment & Scope:
- Entry-level role with close supervision.
- Performs routine tasks using established procedures and guidelines.
- Limited decision-making authority; escalates non-standard issues to supervisors.
- Work involves both office and field environments.
