Great Waters Federal is seeking a Senior IT Governance Specialist for the National Capital Region or a remote position. The selected candidate will establish, maintain, and enforce the approved IT governance framework that aligns technology strategy with business goals, ensuring compliance with regulations and managing IT risks. They will be responsible for bridging the gap between IT operations and executive management, ensuring IT provides value while safeguarding assets.

Roles and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:



  • Lead in the enhancement and alignment of IT governance structures, providing expert guidance on strategy, process design, and regulatory documentation.
  • Oversee evaluations to identify improvement areas, streamlines cross-board operations, and integrate change management practices.
  • Deliver compliance and records management solutions, facilitate decision-making forums, and empower teams through training and knowledge transfer activities.
  • Support the transformation and operations of IT Governance.
  • Work with IT Governance Team to refine and enhance IT Governance Board (ITGB) strategy, processes and activities.
  • Update and Integrate CR processes and procedures with broader IT Governance.
  • Assist with redesigning the Architecture Review Board (ARB) and implement automation.
  • Refresh DMCC processes in conjunction with new IT governance.
  • Assist the agency in identifying AI use cases and overseeing the development of AI packages.
  • Investigate emerging AI use case archetypes. Establish procedures aligned with agency policies to assess compliance with strategic objectives.
  • Coordinate architecture, strategic assessment, and project activities adhering to the IT Governance Boards.
  • Track, review, and interpret various laws, regulations and policies impacting agency.
  • Identify requirements and revise MOUs as necessary; establish and carry out procedures to ensure ongoing MOU compliance.


Basic Qualifications:



  • Bachelor's degree in information technology related field plus ten (10) years of professional IT experience.
  • Eligible candidates include U.S. citizens, lawful permanent residents (Green Card holders), and individuals holding H1B visas.
  • Must be able to successfully complete, pass, and maintain a public trust investigation.
  • High proficiency in the comprehension and application of industry standard and best practice data governance and data management theories, principles, practices, and methodologies.
  • Excellent analytical skills, attention to detail, and strong problem-solving abilities.
  • 10+ years' experience in data governance, data analysis, data management, preferably in a large enterprise environment.
  • Experience in practicing or facilitating stewardship in data governance and data management technical platforms related to activities around data cataloging, business glossary development, lineage and other relationship properties, stewardship engagement, metadata enrichment.
  • High proficiency in the comprehension and application of industry standard and best practice data governance and data management theories, principles, practices, and methodologies.
  • Excellent written/verbal skills, translating technical info, stakeholder management.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
