Position Summary

Position Summary

The logistics supervisor is responsible for the strategic management of the scheduling, monitoring and administration of outbound and inbound shipments along with the import-export compliance program for the division. The logistics supervisor will be the day-to-day contact for the division's order management team, procurement team, operations team and customers when logistics expertise and assistance is required to resolve problems, react to emergencies, provide cost analysis and project planning.

Position will report to the Division Supply Chain Manager. The logistics supervisor will manage Import/export compliance and oversee strategic logistics analysis for the division. Position will interact with team members from operations, procurement, production control, sales, and accounting.

Responsibilities

Essential Functions

  • Implement global corporate transportation program to include:
    • Procurement-related transportation
    • Supplier inbound inventory logistics (VMI)
    • Distribution of manufactured products using lowest cost carrier and Parker Preferred carriers
    • Import processing and export of finished goods
    • Use of contracted lanes with broker's and freight forwarders
  • Partner with procurement, scheduling, and manufacturing to ensure on-time delivery of raw materials and finished goods; other necessary shipments
  • Oversee all transportation modes (truck, rail, air, ocean) to ensure cost-effective, customer-sensitive shipping aligned with corporate logistics program
  • Resolve shipping/receiving delays and manage costs driven by changing priorities, material shortages, quality issues, and labor constraints
  • Report Divisional Net Freight Opportunity Monthly to corporate and track deviations
  • Freight pricing changes; review as needed and for annual cost roll.

  • Support or independently execute transportation supplier activities, including:
    • Interviewing, selection, and negotiation (rates and service)
    • Strategic timing of material handling
    • Shipping container/packaging decisions
    • Damage claim processing
    • International transportation handling
  • Oversee the Division Import-Export Compliance Program, ensuring government-level expectations are met and the below are maintained:
    • HTS classification
    • Country of origin (COO)
    • USMCA documentation/program requirements
    • Trade compliance data analysis
    • Forecast and review tariff expectations, changes, and errors; communicate findings to divisional staff
    • Customs & Border Protection (CBP) regulatory updates
    • Serve as Import-Export Compliance Administrator
    • Coordinate contract and annual workload expectations with third-party compliance provider (StarUSA)
    • Review shipments in Iron Mountain/ACE for discrepancies and work with brokers/freight forwarders to clear held shipments when needed
    • Conduct compliance audits and journey assessments

Qualifications

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 3 - 5 years' experience in transportation and logistics.

  • Experience in Trade Compliance preferred but not required

  • 4-year college degree in business, engineering, or materials management required with certification in transportation preferred.

  • Possess analytical and technical skills required to understand business practices and recommend proper automation opportunities.

  • Must have advanced computer skills and be able to understand electronic processing. Use of mainframe, excel and Precision Shipping software preferred.

  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills for effective interface with all internal and external contacts.

  • Must be an innovator and embrace lean enterprises principles and practices.
