Job Description
The Dishroom will be responsible for the proper cleaning and sanitizing of all kitchenware, trays, carts, utensils, and dishware used in the production of airline meals. This position plays a critical role in ensuring a safe, clean, and sanitary working environment in compliance with FDA, USDA, airline, and company standards. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced, team oriented food production environment and adheres to hygiene and cleanliness standards. Essential Functions: * Operate industrial dishwashing machines and equipment to clean and sanitize all airline equipment, including trays, plates, bowls, glassware, pots, pans, utensils, food containers, and carts.
* Manually wash items as needed, including large or non-machine-washable equipment. * Sort, stack, and organize cleaned items in designated storage areas to maintain order and efficiency. * Dispose of waste, garbage, and recycling materials appropriately. * Clean and sanitize dishroom equipment, floors, walls, and work surfaces at the end of shifts and as needed. * Follow all sanitation and safety procedures according to company and regulatory guidelines (HACCP, FDA, USDA, airline protocols). * Inspect items post-cleaning for cleanliness, damage, and report malfunctions or issues to the supervisor. * Work collaboratively with other kitchen and sanitation team members to ensure a smooth and efficient workflow. * Participate in routine deep cleaning tasks as scheduled. Skills and Qualifications * Must be at least 18 years of age. * High School Diploma or GED preferred. * Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment. * Ability to communicate with team members, supervisors, and other departments. * Ability to read, write, and comprehend the English language with proficiency. * Prior experience in a commercial kitchen, dishroom, or food manufacturing facility is a plus. * Reliable attendance and punctuality. Supervisory Responsibility This position does not have supervisory responsibilities. Work Environment This position is in a food manufacturing facility and involves working in areas that may be cold, hot, humid, or noisy. The environment includes exposure to strong food odors, allergens, and potentially working with equipment. Employees may need to follow strict sanitation and safety protocols, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE). Work may take place on wet or slippery surfaces. Schedules may include overtime, weekends, or holidays based on operational needs. Physical Demands *
Standing/Walking: Ability to stand and walk for prolonged periods, often on concrete or other hard surfaces.
* Lifting/Carrying: Frequently lift, carry, push, or pull objects up to 25 lbs. (occasionally more with assistance or equipment). * Repetitive Motions: Use of hands and arms for repetitive tasks such as packing, sorting, or operating machinery. * Reaching/Bending: Frequent reaching overhead, bending, stooping, and crouching throughout the shift. * Manual Dexterity: Use of fine motor skills for tasks requiring precision and coordination, such as operating controls or using small tools. * Visual Requirements: Ability to visually inspect products, labels, or equipment for quality and safety standards. * Auditory Requirements: Ability to hear alarms, machine sounds, and verbal communication in a noisy environment. Position Type/Expected Hours of Work This is a full-time, non-exempt position. Standard hours and days of work may vary based on production schedules and operational needs, including flight schedules. Evening, weekend, and holiday work may be required, as well as occasional overtime. Travel No travel is required.
