Job Summary

An Underwriting Tech plays a vital support role in ensuring service excellence by applying a thorough understanding of systems, workflows, and the manual rules and guidelines established by West Bend. This position is responsible for clearing accounts for new customers and processing non-complex policy changes with a strong emphasis on accuracy, efficiency, and customer focus.



Work Location

This position offers a hybrid work schedule. Candidates who are located within 50 miles of a West Bend office location will work a hybrid schedule for collaboration days, team meetings or other in-person events. The position can be based in West Bend or Madison.

The internal deadline to apply is 05/20/26. External applications will be accepted on a rolling basis while the position remains open.



Responsibilities & Qualifications

Summary of Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities

    Interpret and apply underwriting guidelines and procedures to support service level standards.
  • Review and clear accounts for new customers and process policy change requests that do not require underwriting decisions.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to ensure timely and accurate policy service.
  • Maintain a strong customer service orientation in all tasks and communications.
  • Adapt to and support ongoing changes in technology, systems, and workflows.

Preferred Experience and Skills

  • 1-2 years of insurance related experience
  • Knowledge of personal computers
  • Organizational and time management skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Suite
  • Basic written and verbal communication skills
  • Basic math and data entry skills
  • Ability to work in fast paced environment

Preferred Education and Training

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Completion of Associate in General Insurance Designation


Salary Statement

The hourly range for this position is $17.89-$22.36.

The actual base pay offered to the successful candidate will be based on multiple factors, including but not limited to job-related knowledge/skills, experience, business needs, geographical location, and internal equity. Compensation decisions are made by West Bend and are dependent upon the facts and circumstances of each position and candidate.
