Position Overview:

We are seeking a Research Associate to support a newly established San Francisco lab focused on automated scientific workflows and platform operations.

The role involves production work in a lab, supporting general research, including:



  • Maintaining stocks
  • Running and maintaining automation
  • Fulfilling orders
  • Receiving and distributing materials
  • This role does not include significant chemistry or bench work, but requires strong lab operations skills.


Ideal candidates will have:



  • Bachelor's degree in a scientific discipline OR
  • 3+ years of industry lab experience
  • Comfort working fully onsite using PPE daily
  • Strong troubleshooting skills, attention to detail, and willingness to learn specialized automated systems


High-potential recent graduates with hands-on academic lab experience are encouraged to apply. Stability and consistency in prior employment are valued due to extensive onboarding and training requirements.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Work in a fast-paced, dynamic lab environment
  • Operate specialized laboratory equipment and instrumentation
  • Create protocols/scripts for automation software
  • Build, prioritize, and coordinate work plans adhering to timelines
  • Execute deadline-driven workflows in real-time
  • Troubleshoot lab instrumentation and automation
  • Perform Quality Control (QC) and calibration of equipment
  • Perform HTQC using LC-MS to verify mass and purity of compounds
  • Complete training on assigned tasks
  • Participate in quality improvement efforts
  • Comply with safety guidelines and site-specific procedures
  • Maintain training records, lab documentation, procedures, monitoring systems, and logbooks
  • Interact with multiple functional areas in a matrixed team environment
  • Additional tasks:

    • Process requests and create shipping documents
    • Organize freezers and store/retrieve samples
    • Learn and follow SOPs
    • Stock lab materials




Basic Qualifications:

  • B.S. degree in Analytical Chemistry, Physical, Life Sciences, or related technical discipline
  • 1-3 years of lab experience
