Sr. Process Mechanical Estimator - Food & Beverage

The Senior Process Mechanical Estimator is responsible for developing accurate, comprehensive cost estimates for large-scale food and beverage manufacturing projects. This role involves analyzing project drawings, specifications, and technical requirements to produce detailed quantity takeoffs for mechanical systems and process equipment.

Job Responsibilities:
  • Develop project budgets and competitive bid proposals

  • Perform risk assessments and identify potential cost or schedule impacts

  • Support valueengineering efforts to optimize project performance and cost

  • Utilize estimating software and construction methodologies to produce accurate, detailed estimates

  • Communicate effectively with internal teams, subcontractors, and clients

  • Maintain strong organizational and analytical practices to ensure thorough and accurate project documentation

  • Review and interpret construction documents, mechanical drawings, specifications, and equipment schedules for projects
  • Perform detailed quantity takeoffs for process mechanical systems
  • Develop accurate material, labor, and equipment cost estimates
  • Solicit, scope, and evaluate subcontractor and vendor proposals to ensure alignment with project requirements
  • Prepare complete bid packages, including pricing summaries, clarifications, exclusions, and risk assessments
  • Participate in constructability reviews and collaborate with engineering, operations, and project management to ensure accurate assumptions
  • Support valueengineering efforts by identifying costsaving alternatives without compromising design intent or performance
  • Maintain uptodate knowledge of industry pricing, market conditions, and mechanical installation methodology
  • Track historical cost data to support continuous improvement of estimating accuracy
  • Assist preconstruction and project teams during handoff, procurement, and early planning phases as needed
  • Other duties which may be assigned as needed
Education/Experience:
  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering, Construction Management or accredited construction-related curriculum
  • A minimum of 5 years of estimating experience preferred or 15 years of relevant experience in the construction industry
To thrive in this role, you'll need:
  • Professional experience estimating process and packaging mechanical scopes for large-scale food and beverage manufacturing projects

  • Ability to read, interpret, and analyze complex mechanical and process design documents

  • Estimating software experience required, Beck Destini Estimator and FastPIPE or pipe estimating software preferred
  • Proficiency with construction estimating software and Excel-based estimating tools

  • Strong communication skills for coordinating with vendors, subcontractors, engineers, and internal teams

  • Experience with Design-Build and CMAR (Construction Manager at Risk) project delivery methods

  • Proven computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office applications

Environmental Factors and/or Physical Requirements:

While performing the duties of this job, this position is required to have ordinary ambulatory skills sufficient to visit other locations; and the ability to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, and manipulate (lift, carry, move) light to medium weights of 10-50 pounds. Requires good hand-eye coordination, and arm, hand and finger dexterity, including the ability to grasp, and visual acuity to use a keyboard, operate equipment and read application/form information. The associate frequently is required to sit, reach with hands and arms, talk, and hear.
