The Payment Posting Unit is responsible and accountable for the accurate and timely posting of insurance and patient payments. The unit is responsible for analyzing and resolving credit balances. The unit also assists in tracing payments, tracking and reconciling deposits. It is the unit's responsibility to communicate throughout the UCSF Medical Center departments, including the various UCSF billing agents to resolve issues involving the account receivable of professional service.

Within this unit, the Payment Posting Lead is responsible for the accurate posting of payments and deposit reconciliation through constant communication with MGBS staff, UCSF departments, and various billing agencies. The incumbent will also assist the Payment Posting Manager in specific tasks, training, and special projects. The incumbent demonstrates the ability to perform all aspect of payment posting with superior quality. The incumbent will conform to all UCSF, MGBS, government and HIPAA policies and procedures.

The incumbent will also assist the Payment Posting Manager in specific tasks, training, and special projects. The incumbent demonstrates the ability to perform all aspect of payment posting with superior quality. The incumbent will conform to all UCSF, MGBS, government and HIPAA policies and procedures.

Requirements:

* High school graduate or GED certificate.
* Two or more years of experience working in cash posting environment and/or remittance processing environment. Two to three years experience in billing or related healthcare experience; and/or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
* Must have advance understanding of Insurance Explanation of Benefits or Remittance Advices terminology
* Must demonstrate an advanced understanding of all aspects of the cash posting unit
* Ability to determine correct payment and denial amounts before posting.
* Advanced keyboard skills and calculator skills.
* Knowledge of computer operation (i.e. typing, Microsoft Word, Excel) and office equipment (i.e. fax machine and copy machine).
* Solid math and analytical skills and attention to detail.
* Strong organizational skills. Ability to work in a changing environment and handle multiple tasks efficiently
* Demonstrate team leadership skills
* Interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
* Must be a motivated, positive individual with exceptional work ethics.
* Ability to follow directions and written procedures.
* Ability to work independently.
* Knowledge of the mandated HIPAA regulations for security, PHI and confidentiality are essential requirements for this position
* Ability to work in a changing environment and handle multiple tasks efficiently
* Good organizational interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.
* The ability to work in Emeryville when required.

Preferences:

* Banking or Accounting background.
* Knowledge of contracts, insurance billing requirements, 1500 claim forms, worker's compensation, HMOs, PPOs, Medicare, Medi-Cal and HIPAA compliance program regulations.
* Knowledge of CPT and ICD-9, ICD.10 Coding
* Solid understanding of billing requirements of each major payor
* Medical terminology experience
* Knowledge of patient accounting

Salary Information


The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy.


Your placement within the salary range is dependent on a number of factors including your work experience and internal equity within this position classification at UCSF. For positions that are represented by a labor union, placement within the salary range will be guided by the rules in the collective bargaining agreement.
