The QA Manager - Laboratory owns end-to-end laboratory operations - metrology, calibration, and testing/inspection - ensuring full compliance with AS9100, ISO 9001, NADCAP, and ISO/IEC 17025. This leader builds a culture of precision, audit readiness, and continuous improvement while delivering reliable laboratory services that support the business.


Key Responsibilities


Quality & Compliance



  • Maintain and advance compliance with AS9100, ISO 9001, NADCAP, and customer/regulatory requirements, including leading the laboratory to ISO/IEC 17025 accreditation
  • Develop and maintain procedures, work instructions, and test methods; champion audit readiness across internal and external audits
  • Drive timely CAPA resolution and cross-functional continuous improvement initiatives


Leadership & Operations



  • Direct daily laboratory operations and set priorities to ensure on-time delivery of laboratory services
  • Hire, develop, and manage laboratory personnel through coaching, training, and performance management


Metrology, Calibration & Technical Oversight



  • Manage all measurement and test equipment (LIMS, CMM, precision gauges) with full traceability to NIST or equivalent standards
  • Oversee calibration scheduling, uncertainty analysis, out-of-tolerance investigations, and MSA/Gage R&R evaluations
  • Troubleshoot equipment and measurement system failures; lead RCCA and approve test results, calibration certificates, and reports as required


Suppliers, Contracts & KPIs



  • Qualify and monitor external calibration providers and raw material suppliers; administer equipment service contracts and ensure all deliverables meet quality requirements
  • Track KPIs (calibration compliance, measurement capability, turnaround time) and lead Lean/Six Sigma initiatives to drive improvement


Safety



  • Ensure full compliance with company EHS requirements


Qualifications



  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Physics, Chemistry, Materials Science, or related field
  • Proven supervisory/management experience in a quality role (salaried and hourly employees)
  • Hands-on experience with AS9100, ISO 9001, NADCAP, and ISO/IEC 17025; aerospace or precision manufacturing background preferred
  • Strong technical foundation in metrology, calibration, uncertainty analysis, LIMS, SPC, MSA, and Gage R&R
  • Familiarity with aerospace inspection tools (CMM, optical systems) and laboratory practices (microscopy, metallography, wet chemistry); special process knowledge a plus

The salary range for this position reflects a broad spectrum of experience levels. Individual compensation within the range is determined by multiple factors, including relevant experience, education, certifications, job related skills, internal equity, and market conditions. We evaluate each candidate individually to ensure fair and competitive pay decisions.
