Job Purpose

Risk & Compliance Assurance Director

Support the delivery of a Group-wide Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) Framework, ensuring alignment with internal policies, methodologies, and key regulations.

Lead the team responsible for overseeing risk management across New England-providing effective oversight, challenge, and monitoring of ERM application. Advise on risk assessment, controls, mitigation actions, and assurance to strengthen overall risk effectiveness.

Oversee the delivery of the New England Compliance Controls Testing programme, working closely with the Chief Compliance Officer and CRO Office to ensure a robust, risk-based approach.

Act as a trusted business partner to the General Counsel and Business Unit leadership, delivering clear advice, guidance, and support on risk and compliance matters.

Experience in Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) is essential for this position.

National Grid is seeking a Risk and Compliance Assurance Director for our NE General Counsel Risk & Compliance Assurance team. This role is located in Waltham, Massachusetts, with hybrid working.

Key Accountabilities
  • Lead a risk team and ensure risk processes and reporting are effective.
  • Advise the business on managing risks and using the risk framework.
  • Support teams in identifying, assessing, and managing risks.
  • Monitor key risks and ensure actions are in place to reduce them.
  • Provide clear risk reports to leadership and key stakeholders.
  • Deliver training to improve risk awareness and capability.
  • Build strong relationships with leaders and act as a key risk partner.
  • Work with internal teams to improve risk practices and ensure compliance.
About you

Candidates should demonstrate:

  • Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) - this is a minimum requirement.

  • Ideally experienced within energy, utilities, engineering or manufacturing related business.
  • Risk Assurance / Controls Testing

  • Compliance Controls Testing

  • Internal Audit exposure

  • SOX testing experience is relevant but not mandatory

Salary

$177k - $208k a year
