Duties and Responsibilities

• The Certified Addiction Counselor is responsible for the design, development, and implementation of substance use and abuse prevention and intervention programing. The Certified Addiction Counselor works in conjunction Health Services staff in the Wellness Center to identify and address student needs.
• The Certified Addiction Counselor coordinates and designs a program designed to reduce and eliminate substance use and abuse and in compliance with the Department of Labor/Job Corps guidelines.
• Conducts in-service training sessions for staff and students regarding substance use and abuse.
• Assists Center Standards and Incentives Officer in regard to assessing and evaluating substance use and misuse while adhering to zero tolerance policy
• Completes medical separations for students in need of a higher level of care in regard to substance use and abuse and connects students to community resources. The Certified Addiction Counselor may work in conjunction with the Mental Health Consultant, center physician, Health and Wellness Manager (RN), etc.to evaluate and address student needs.
• Monitors behavior and progress of students engaged in Substance Use Prevention/Intervention Program; maintains records and reports in accordance with PA state law regarding standards of confidentiality.

Qualifications

• Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor (CADC) certification or Certified Advanced Alcohol and Drug Counselor (CAADC) required.
• Prefer One year of work-related experience; prefer experience working with youth.
• Prefer Master's degree and previous experience with disadvantaged youth, particularly in a residential setting.
• Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record preferred.
• Required to pass a drug screen in compliance with our Substance Abuse and Drug-Free Workplace policy.
