Job Description

Elwyn seeks an Executive Director of Employee Training & Staff Preparedness, who is responsible for leading the strategic development, implementation, and continuous improvement of Elwyn's workforce training and organizational readiness initiatives. This role ensures that employees across all levels are equipped with the knowledge, skills, and competencies necessary to deliver high-quality, person-centered services. The Executive Director will oversee onboarding, compliance training, leadership development, emergency preparedness, and ongoing professional development programs aligned with Elwyn's mission, values, and strategic goals.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Training Strategy & Program Development

  • Design and implement a comprehensive training strategy that supports organizational goals, regulatory requirements, and staff development needs.
  • Oversee the development and delivery of onboarding, compliance, clinical, and role-specific training programs.
  • Ensure training content reflects best practices in intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD), behavioral health, and trauma-informed care.

Staff Preparedness & Organizational Readiness

  • Lead initiatives to ensure staff are prepared for emergencies, transitions, and organizational changes.
  • Develop and maintain protocols for crisis response, safety drills, and continuity planning.
  • Collaborate with HR, Operations, and Program leadership to assess and address workforce readiness gaps.

Leadership Development & Succession Planning

  • Create and manage leadership development programs to build internal capacity and support succession planning.
  • Identify high-potential staff and provide targeted growth opportunities.
  • Support managers and supervisors with coaching, mentoring, and performance management tools.

Evaluation & Continuous Improvement

  • Establish metrics to evaluate training effectiveness, staff engagement, and preparedness outcomes.
  • Use data to inform program improvements and report on impact to senior leadership.
  • Stay current with industry trends, technologies, and regulatory changes affecting workforce development.

Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement

  • Partner with internal departments to align training with operational needs and strategic priorities.
  • Engage external experts, vendors, and consultants to enhance training offerings.
  • Foster a culture of learning, accountability, and continuous improvement across the organization.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Education, Organizational Development, Human Resources, Public Administration, or related field.
  • Minimum of 7-10 years of experience in workforce development, training, or organizational learning, preferably in a nonprofit or healthcare setting.
  • Experience designing and implementing large-scale training programs and change management initiatives.

Technical & Analytical Skills

  • Proficiency in learning management systems (LMS), instructional design tools, and data analytics platforms.
  • Strong understanding of adult learning principles, competency-based training, and evaluation methodologies.
  • Ability to analyze workforce data and translate insights into actionable strategies.

Leadership & Soft Skills

  • Exceptional communication and facilitation skills, with the ability to engage diverse audiences.
  • Strategic thinker with strong project management and organizational skills.
  • Collaborative and inclusive leadership style that fosters trust and innovation.
