The Department of Orthopedic Surgery is seeking a highly motivated Advanced Practice Provider to join our Inpatient Orthopedic Team. This high-volume acute care setting requires an individual with exceptional interpersonal communication skills and a strong team-oriented mindset, dedicated to delivering outstanding orthopedic care to patients with a broad spectrum of musculoskeletal conditions and injuries. This is a full- or part-time position with no OR assisting.
Licensure/Certifications: NCCPA or AG-ACNP certified, VA state licensure, DEA SALARY RANGES COMMISURATE WITH YEARS OF EXPERIENCE Incentivized Bonus plan with reward up to 10% of salary Background checks and pre-employment health screenings will be conducted on all new hires prior to employment. All safety-sensitive positions with direct patient interaction also require a drug screen. Administration: Provides team support by timely follow-up on diagnostic test results and responses to emails, EPIC messages, pages, and text communications. Professional: Engages in collaborative practice with colleagues and trainees, serves as a preceptor for students, and contributes to the education of staff and other health professionals using evidence-based practices and protocols. Maintains professional licensures, certifications, and credentials. Clinical: Provides post-injury and post-operative care to adult orthopedic patients. Responsibilities include throughput of patients from admission to discharge; giving and receiving overnight and weekend sign-outs and communication with interns, residents, and attending surgeons; ordering and interpreting diagnostic imaging and laboratory tests; ordering and reconciling medications; coordination of and collaboration with ancillary services such as PT/OT, case management, social services, hospitalist and consulting services; performing dressing changes and wound care; drain management; and coordination patient of disposition and follow-up care. Educates and empowers patients and caregivers. eadership: This APP will represent the Department Orthopedic Surgery and UVA Health System to uphold our ASPIRE values - Accountability, Stewardship, Professionalism, Integrity, Respect & Equity. The APP will serve as a resource for their teammates and staff, with option to participate in additional leadership and process improvement initiatives in the Department and broader organization. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS Education: Graduate of an accredited graduate school of nursing or physician assistant program with a master's degree. Experience: Department and unit specific. Licensure: License or license eligible as an Advance Practice Provider (Nurse Practitioner, Physician Associate, Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist, and Certified Nurse Midwife) as set forth by the state of Virginia. If Nurse Practitioner, license to Practice as a Registered Nurse in the Commonwealth of Virginia is required. Must demonstrate and maintain all credentialing and licensing requirements of UVA Health System, the Virginia Board of Medicine or the Virginia Board of Nursing, and appropriate certifying bodies. Current Basic Life Support (BLS) required. Current PALS/NRP, as required, specific to position. Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) as required, specific to position. PHYSICAL DEMANDS Job requires standing for prolonged periods, frequently bending/stooping, reaching (overhead, extensive, and repetitive); Repetitive motion: computer keyboard. Proficient communicative, auditory and visual skills; Attention to detail and ability to write legibly; Ability to lift/push/pull 50 - 100lbs. May be exposed to noise, radiation, radioactive materials, blood/body fluids and infectious disease. The starting base rate for this role is $124,845.00 annually.
