POSITION SUMMARY



The Dispatcher at Lake City Army Ammunition Plant serves as the central communications and coordination point for emergency and routine operations across the installation. This position is responsible for receiving, evaluating, prioritizing, and dispatching calls for service involving Fire Department and Security personnel. The Dispatcher ensures rapid, accurate, and compliant response actions in alignment with installation protocols, emergency management procedures, and applicable regulatory standards. The Dispatcher position falls within the security force and is an Armed Security Officer position.



Operating within a high-security, mission-critical environment, the Dispatcher maintains continuous situational awareness through alarm monitoring platforms, CCTV systems, and the Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) system. The role requires sound judgment, multitasking proficiency, precise data entry, and strict adherence to confidentiality and operational security requirements.



RESPONSIBILITIES



  • Receive, assess, and prioritize emergency and non-emergency calls for service from installation personnel and monitoring systems.
  • Dispatch Fire Department and Security personnel to incidents, ensuring accurate communication of location, nature of incident, hazards, and responding units.
  • Tone out emergency responders using established radio and alerting protocols.
  • Activate emergency notification systems in accordance with installation emergency action plans and incident command procedures.
  • Monitor and respond to intrusion detection systems, fire alarms, and other life-safety alarm platforms.
  • Continuously monitor CCTV systems within the dispatch center to maintain situational awareness and support incident response and investigations.
  • Input, update, and maintain incident data within the Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) system, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and audit compliance.
  • Maintain real-time status tracking of personnel, apparatus, and security assets.
  • Coordinate interdepartmental communications during routine operations and large-scale or multi-agency incidents.
  • Document all calls for service, actions taken, and communications in accordance with installation policy and records retention standards.
  • Escalate incidents as required to supervisory personnel and command staff.
  • Ensure operational continuity within the dispatch center, including equipment checks, system functionality verification, and shift turnover briefings.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality of sensitive operational and security-related information.
  • Complete and maintain all mandatory training.
  • Perform routine security officer duties as directed.


QUALIFICATIONS



  • Must be at least 21 years of age
  • US Citizen
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Maintain a valid Driver's License
  • Applicants are subject to pre-employment and background investigation, including prior employment, personal references, criminal and credit screening, motor vehicle report, etc.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Security Clearance, prior to training.
  • Employees are subject to random drug screening, annual background investigations, and must report all violations (including traffic tickets) and/or arrests
  • Pass an annual Physical Ability Test (PAT)
  • Handle, shoot, and qualify semi-annually with a 9mm pistol, shotgun, and rifle.
