DM Disposal, a Waste Connections company, is seeking a skilled and safety-focused

Fabricator to join our maintenance team in Fife, Washington.

This role is ideal for candidates with experience as a diesel technician, heavy equipment mechanic, or truck fabricator, performing welding, fabrication, and structural repairs on hook

trucks, roll-off trucks, garbage trucks, containers, and compactors that support

daily operations.

We are looking for a hands-on professional who values safety, quality workmanship,

and teamwork in a fast-paced shop environment.

Pay and Schedule

Hourly Wage: $28.00 to $35.00 per hour, depending on experience

Schedule: Monday through Friday, 6:00 AM to 2:30 PM

Tool Allowance: $125 per month

Key Responsibilities


  • Perform fabrication, welding, and structural repairs on hook trucks, roll-off trucks, and other solid waste and heavy-duty vehicles
  • Repair, reinforce, and modify containers, compactors, and related equipment
  • Diagnose and repair metal fatigue, cracks, and structural damage on truck bodies and equipment
  • Weld using MIG, TIG, stick, and other methods in vertical, horizontal, and overhead positions
  • Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical specifications
  • Select appropriate materials, welding methods, and tools for each job
  • Inspect and test completed work to ensure safety and durability
  • Maintain a clean and safe working environment in compliance with OSHA and company standards
  • Document work performed, parts used, and repair time
  • Collaborate with mechanics and other shop personnel to support fleet uptime

Tools and Equipment


  • Candidates are expected to provide a basic set of personal tools
  • Extensive shop tools and equipment are available on-site for shared use
  • Monthly $125 tool allowance provided to support tool maintenance and growth

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements


  • Frequent lifting, pushing, and pulling of items over 50 pounds
  • Regular climbing, bending, and working in confined or awkward positions
  • Exposure to moving mechanical parts, noise, vibration, and outdoor weather conditions
  • Work is performed both indoors and outdoors, depending on operational needs
  • Use of PPE is required at all times

Required Qualifications


  • 3 to 4 years of experience in fabrication, welding, diesel repair, or heavy equipment maintenance
  • Experience working on trucks, trailers, or heavy industrial equipment strongly preferred
  • Proficiency with multiple welding techniques (MIG, TIG, stick)
  • Ability to operate hand and power tools (saws, grinders, calipers, measuring tools)
  • Valid Washington State driver's license
  • CDL is a plus
  • Ability to pass pre-employment screenings (background check, drug test, and motor vehicle report)
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English for safe and accurate job performance
  • Safety Sensitive: Yes
