THE POSITION

As a National School Lunch Program Specialist with the Department of Agriculture, you will help manage the flow of USDA foods that support school and child nutrition programs. This position offers meaningful work that strengthens meal programs across the state. You will gain experience with ordering, tracking, and distributing products to schools and agencies. DESCRIPTION OF WORK

This position supports statewide food distribution for multiple child nutrition programs by coordinating orders, shipments, and inventory records. As a National School Lunch Program Specialist, you will perform the following duties:
- Commodity Management: Assist with monitoring and coordinating USDA commodity inventory for child nutrition programs
- Order Coordination: Submit commodity orders and schedule shipments to ensure fair and timely distribution
- Problem Resolution: Address billing, shipping, allocation, and inventory issues with warehouses, processors, and agencies
- Report Handling: Review processor reports, verify data, and maintain required program files
- Program Support: Help prepare agreements, reports, and communications related to commodity processing activities
- Communication Tasks: Respond to inquiries from agencies and processors through phone and email

- Full-time employment
- Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
- Occasional travel may be required
- Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time, up to 5 days per pay period. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Harrisburg. The ability to telework is subject to change at any time. Additional details may be provided during the interview.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- Two years of experience in varied office management or staff work; and bachelor's degree; or
- Any equivalent combination of experience and training.
Additional Requirements:
- You must be able to perform essential job functions.
Preferred Qualifications (not required):
- Experience administering and/or working on a school food service environment.
- Knowledge of National School Lunch Program, School Breakfast Program, and USDA Foods Federal Regulations
