This position plays a critical role in monitoring day-to-day administrative and operational performance, ensuring policy compliance, strengthening internal controls, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives. Additional duties and special projects are assigned as needed to support divisional and agency priorities.

Job Overview:

The Driver Services Operations Support Director provides executive-level operational oversight and strategic support to the Driver Services Division. This role ensures the effective coordination, compliance, and performance of credential issuance operations for our County Clerks, prison systems, and self-service kiosks across the State. Additionally, this role will oversee our Driver Training and Testing Program for new Tennessee drivers.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide executive leadership, strategic direction, and accountability for third-party (e.g., County Clerks, prison systems, etc.) credential issuances
  • Oversee the Driver Training and Testing Program
  • Oversee the self-service Kiosk initiative and manage the placement and operations of the kiosks
  • Foster transparent communication, training initiatives, and controls for third-party credential issuances
  • In conjunction with the Legal Division, oversee contractual relationships with third-parties, including self-service kiosk partners
  • Assist the Policy and Compliance Director in the development of policies and procedures for the unit
  • Oversee strategic plans and risk assessments for the unit
  • Establish and strengthen partnerships with government and private stakeholders
  • Ensure compliance with state and federal mandates and audits

Minimum Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor's degree in Business Management, Public Administration, or related field and five (5) years of progressively responsible leadership experience managing cross-functional teams.
  • Additional experience may substitute for education on a year-for-year basis.
