| Position Highlights |
This position will provide technical support to the extension agent in garden maintenance, seed saving, and mechanical assistance for agricultural operations. This includes soil and crop management, irrigation and fertility practices, weed control strategies, plant growth regulation. The role will also support proper livestock care and facility maintenance to enhance agricultural efficiency and resource stewardship. Must be able to lift, bend, work outdoors in the heat or cold. This position is located on the San Carlos Apache Indian Reservation.

| Duties & Responsibilities |
Agricultural Operations:
- Assists with planting and soil maintenance on several garden projects at the elementary schools, detention center, office demonstration gardens.
- Work with gardening hand tools to perform planting, pruning, install and maintain irrigation equipment and harvesting crops carefully.
- Assists with livestock workshop event set-up and maintenance of facilities for rancher education workshops on animal husbandry, health, nutrition and hoof care.
Assist with Programming set-up and office maintenance:
- Workshop setup and preparation.
- Assists with hands-on youth activities in 4-H, STEM, soil science, and livestock education.
- Maintains safe workspaces, organizing educational materials, and assisting with operational support for outreach and agricultural programming.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Familiarity with basic farming practices and soil science, irrigation systems, fertilizing, and composting.
- Familiarity with safe pest and weed control.
- Familiarity with general livestock practices and facility maintenance.

| Minimum Qualifications |
- High school diploma or high school diploma equivalency is required.
- Must have a valid driver's license and ability to drive according to
the University Fleet Safety Policy.

| Preferred Qualifications |
- Experience with tractors, irrigation systems, hand tools, and sometimes harvesting equipment.
- Knowledge of Crop and Soil maintenance, planting cycles, watering needs, harvest timing.
- Basic knowledge of livestock management and necessary aspects of a successful livestock operation.
- Bilingual in Spanish or San Carlos Apache.

In compliance with the Jeanne Clery Campus Safety Act (Clery Act), each year the University of Arizona releases an Annual Security Report (ASR) for each of the University's campuses.Thesereports disclose information including Clery crime statistics for the previous three calendar years and policies, procedures, and programs the University uses to keep students and employees safe, including how to report crimes or other emergencies and resources for crime victims.
