Overview

SCCI is seeking an Engineering Technician VI to support a Gun Weapons System (GWS) laboratory environment to join our team! In this position you will work in a fast pace, team environment that requires critical thinking, troubleshooting and repairing complex gun weapon systems in a timely manner. The successful candidate must demonstrate the ability to learn new technical concepts quickly. This position is located in Dahlgren, VA.

Responsibilities:



  • Provides laboratory maintenance by creating and maintaining a shipboard functional Develops and executes test plans, procedures, and cases for weapon systems and subsystems in a laboratory environment
  • Conducts system-level testing to validate and verify performance against design requirements and specifications
  • Analyzes test data to identify, document, and report on system anomalies, failures, and deficiencies
  • Prepares comprehensive test reports and provides recommendations for corrective actions
  • Work in a fast pace, team environment that requires critical thinking, troubleshooting and repairing complex gun weapon systems in a timely manner
  • Configures and maintains the system integration lab (SIL) and test-bed environments, including hardware, software, and networking components
  • Performs integration and testing of weapon system software and hardware components
  • Troubleshoots and debugs complex issues to isolate the root cause of failures
  • Collaborates with design engineers, software developers, and program managers to resolve technical issues and ensure system integrity
  • Supports the planning and execution of developmental and operational test events
  • Ensures all testing activities are conducted safely and in accordance with established protocols and regulations

Qualifications

Essential Skills and Experience:




  • Must be a U.S. Citizen and have an Active Secret Security Clearance
  • High school diploma
  • Fifteen (15) years of experience in applying engineering services to engagement system components and assemblies
  • This experience includes developing and testing solutions to solve technical problems in research and development, manufacturing, inspection, and maintenance, and assisting engineers in inspecting products, conducting tests, and collecting data
  • Ability to be proactive and self-driven to deliver high quality results in a fast pace environment
  • Hardware/Electronics Technician Certification or Equivalent Experience or Training
  • Experience with assembling military style connectors and copper cabling
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced team environment
  • Self-motivated to drive projects to completion with minimal supervision when required
  • Ability to plan and coordinate individual assignments to meet project goals
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing



Preferred Skills and Experience:




  • Experience in a test and evaluation environment, preferably with a focus on defense or Naval systems
  • Knowledge of systems engineering principles and the system development lifecycle
  • Experience with test automation, scripting languages (e.g., Python), and data analysis tools
  • Familiarity with military standards or NAVSEA standards or other regulatory requirements is highly desirable
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment
  • Experience with electrical wiring and troubleshooting up to 440V
  • Experience building and wiring combat systems from the ground up that includes military fiber, copper cabling and RS232
  • Experience building prototype mechanical devices to support lab efficiency
  • Knowledge of how electromechanical devices operate and the ability to troubleshoot
  • Knowledge of complex lab infrastructure that includes cooling, wiring, conduit and overall efficiency
