What this job involves - The Project Manager - Lab Moves at JLL is responsible for leading and coordinating lab relocation and equipment move activities throughout the project life cycle. This role serves as the main point of contact for lab move, add, and change (MAC) activities, ensuring successful planning, coordination, and execution of all tasks. The Project Manager works closely with clients, lab planners, facility managers, and other stakeholders to ensure project visibility, maintain logistics, and meet project requirements. A strong customer service focus and understanding of laboratory operations are essential for success in this role.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES:

  • Lead and manage lab move activities:

    • Serve as the point of contact for all lab move, add, and change (MAC) activities.

    • Coordinate and oversee scheduling, task lists, and stakeholder communication.

  • Vendor and stakeholder management:

    • Work with lab planners, facilities teams, and specialized vendors to execute equipment moves.

    • Establish and maintain relationships with third-party vendors and conduct pre/post move walkthroughs.

  • Support move planning and execution:

    • Collaborate with lab planners to support test fits and manage larger capital projects.

    • Oversee inventory, cataloging, and documentation of laboratory equipment.

  • Customer service and communication:

    • Provide superior customer service, addressing inquiries and resolving issues during the move.

    • Offer support to client post-move to address "day two" items.

    • Maintain clear and consistent communication with all stakeholders throughout the project.

  • Project documentation and reporting:

    • Maintain comprehensive project documentation, including move plans, communication logs, and equipment lists.

    • Prepare and evaluate project reports to provide status updates to internal and external stakeholders.

  • Site assessment and safety compliance:

    • Conduct site visits to assess current and future lab spaces, identifying potential challenges.

    • Facilitate coordination for access with Security, Facilities, and other relevant teams.

    • Ensure compliance with safety standards and guidelines.

  • Process improvement and lessons learned:

    • Identify opportunities for process improvement and document lessons learned for each lab move.

    • Provide insights and recommendations to enhance future project efficiency and effectiveness.

KEY COMPETENCIES:

  • Ability to lead, manage project schedules, and coordinate logistics effectively.

  • A proactive approach to providing high-quality service to clients and addressing their needs during lab moves.

  • Proficient in problem-solving to ensure the project's successful completion.

  • Ensuring accuracy and precision in all project documentation, equipment labeling, and reporting.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/TRAINING:

  • Bachelor's Degree preferred

    • Specify preferred major: Project Management, Facilities Management, Real Estate, or a related field.

WORK EXPERIENCE:

  • 2-3 years of related work experience in project management, laboratory moves, or large equipment handling.

  • Specialized knowledge / skills:

    • Strong knowledge of laboratory environments and lab equipment handling, transportation, and safety procedures.

    • Ability to cultivate strong client relations and provide customer-focused solutions.

    • Superior oral and written communication skills.

    • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.

    • Strong organizational skills, with attention to detail and the ability to multitask.

    • Proficiency in project management tools and software (e.g., Microsoft Project, Smartsheet).

PHYSICAL DEMANDS/ENVIRONMENTAL WORK CONDITIONS:

  • Involves general office work 5 days a week; may include extended periods of sitting and computer operation.

  • Ability to attend site walks and escort move vendors for project move execution

  • Occasional standing for tasks such as operating office equipment (copier, fax, scanner).

  • Regularly required to talk, hear, and use hands and fingers for writing and typing.

  • Requires vision abilities to read printed material, graphics, and computer displays.

This position does not provide visa sponsorship. Candidates must be authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.

Estimated compensation for this position:

95,600.00 - 125,770.00 USD per year

This range is an estimate and actual compensation may differ. Final compensation packages are determined by various considerations including but not limited to candidate qualifications, location, market conditions, and internal considerations.
