Detailed Description
Support the service delivery of Superior QC Operations by receiving and reviewing standard well planning documentation, BHA information, and related operational inputs. Generate and manage applicable reference field magnetics, including IFR1, HDGM, and other approved magnetic reference models as required. Create, configure, and maintain wells within Superior QC infrastructure, including FDIR and related operational databases and systems. Provide live remote monitoring of all FDIR jobs to ensure operational continuity, data quality, system health, and accurate solution delivery. Monitor active rig operations and proactively identify potential issues, system irregularities, or data-quality concerns. Provide remote troubleshooting support to field personnel, internal users, service companies, and external customers. Communicate clearly with field and external users to provide guidance, education, and support related to Superior QC workflows, FDIR operations, high-fidelity navigation systems, high-fidelity guidance directional advisory programs, and automation-supported processes. Maintain documentation and follow-up of issues within Superior QC Operations, including operational events, troubleshooting steps, customer communications, and resolution status. Support survey management, FDIR - Fault Detection, Isolation, and Recovery - corrections, high-fidelity navigation workflows, high-fidelity guidance directional advisory workflows, and associated customer communication. Ensure end-of-well documentation is received, reviewed, stored, and filed accurately within internal directories and approved data-management systems. Perform all other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements
Strong computer skills, with emphasis on Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Outlook. Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and other business systems is also required. Ability to maintain a professional demeanor in all situations, including interactions with employees, field personnel, service companies, customers, and third-party representatives. Excellent interpersonal and relationship-building skills, with the ability to work effectively with employees at all levels and with external customers. Strong organizational skills, with the ability to be resourceful, proactive, and consistent when managing operational issues. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Strong attention to detail and the ability to work independently as well as part of a team. Ability to prioritize tasks, manage distractions, and support multiple active jobs or projects simultaneously. Ability to troubleshoot operational issues in a remote-support environment and escalate concerns appropriately. Ability to maintain accurate documentation, reporting discipline, and file-management practices.
Minimum Qualifications
High School Diploma or GED with 2+ years of drilling-related remote operations experience, drilling field experience, MWD experience, directional drilling support experience, or similar operational experience; or Bachelor's degree in Petroleum Engineering, Geology, Geoscience, Engineering, or a related technical field in lieu of experience. Must live in or relocate to the Houston, TX area within 60 days of accepting the position.
Preferred Qualifications
Knowledge of basic MWD theory, including pulse and EM systems. Knowledge of directional drilling concepts and field operations. Basic surface receiver knowledge, including systems such as DigiDrill, Noralis, and Erdos Miller. Prior experience using or supporting Superior QC services, FDIR workflows, or related remote operations systems, whether in the field or remotely. Completion of, participation in, or graduation from the ISCWSA Surveyor's Course. Experience with automation-supported workflows, drilling data systems, or remote operations centers. Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Outlook.
Additional Details: Variable work hours include regular after-hours, weekend and holiday commitments on a rotational basis. This position must work with an emphasis and prioritization to maintain a professional attitude when interacting with all Company and customer representatives. Must be able to work closely with others and manage customer interaction in a professional manner. Work is primarily in a climate controlled / office environment with minimal safety / health hazard potential. The employee is regularly required to sit, stand, or walk with occasional lifting (overhead, waist level) from floor, bending and frequent near vision use for reading and use of computer, telephone and other office equipment.
