Position Summary

The Market Specialist - Navy Defense coordinates naval defense market data analysis from groups and divisions to increase market penetration and increased revenue volumes from existing accounts. Responsible for maintaining/increasing sales volume and margin with existing and new accounts within OEM and/or industrial/distribution channels. Accountable for executing assigned sales goals and sales plans within an established market and assigned account base.

Works closely with all levels of Parker management globally and management for Parker distribution networks.

Essential Functions

  • Develops and maintains strong client relationships with OEM customers and may or may not have distributor accounts while meeting position objectives. Ensures Parker products are specified to maintain and increase revenue by prioritizing the opportunities on an account-by-account basis to obtain optimum sales and margin results.
  • Develops and maintains comprehensive knowledge of competitive products and their activity in the marketplace and provides reports on a regular and/or monthly basis. Keeps management aware of changes which would affect the distribution of Parker products. Participates in the development and implementation of appropriate response strategies.
  • Assists the divisions in planning strategies to provide the products and services required for their assigned accounts. Actively supports cross divisional and other group products with proper referrals. Provides product training at the distributor and customer levels. Motivates and provides sales direction to the distributors. Assists in the conversion of competitive accounts to Parker.
  • Travels regularly throughout a specific market area to obtain approvals and specifications for the Group within the defense market.
  • Coordinate and cooperate with other Parker Groups involved in making single or preferred source presentations to the defense market.
  • Actively organize and conduct product training requirements with and for the end user customer, contractors selected, and OEMs. Requires file maintenance and documentation.
  • Make project proposals on behalf of the market facing team and unified proposals with other Parker Groups/Divisions.
  • Active involvement with industry professional organizations with an Objective to be visible in the industry.
  • Establish and manage the cost center budget.
  • Negotiate and administer national Sales agreements.
  • Monitor sales results and track trends in the market
  • Works with divisions in development of catalogs, advertising, and promotional pieces for designated markets.

Qualifications

  • US Navy experience with background in shipboard systems, mechanical, or acquisition preferred.
  • Bachelor's degree in business administration, Engineering degree, or equivalent experience.
  • 10+ years of progressive experience in sales or divisional operations.
  • Ability to interface with customers and communicate effectively within Parker to accomplish goals.
  • The ability to read and understand market situations and develop strategic responses that result in Parker's market share growth.
  • Technical understanding of both customer applications and Parker-Hannifin products.
  • Experience using Microsoft Suite Tools (Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.)
  • Domestic travel required as needed.
  • Must be ITAR Eligible

Competitive Compensation

  • Pay Range: $104400 to $174150 annually
  • Participation in Annual Incentive Program
