DESCRIPTION OF WORK

This position focuses on identifying and controlling pests and vegetation to support the environment at Fort Indiantown Gap. As a Vector Control Specialist, you will perform the following duties:
- Site Inspections: Inspect facilities and outdoor areas to locate pests, nesting sites, and infestations
- Pest Control: Apply pesticides and set traps or devices to control insects, rodents, and other vectors
- Vegetation Control: Use herbicides and equipment to manage weeds in areas where non chemical control is not practical
- Equipment Operation: Operate and maintain spraying equipment, pumps, and other tools used for pest and vegetation control
- Safety Compliance: Follow safety rules, report hazards, and handle chemicals according to required procedures
- Recordkeeping: Document inspections, treatments, and pesticide usage for reporting and tracking purposes

- Full-time employment, 37.5 hours per week
- Work hours are 1st shift (7:00 AM to 3:00 PM), Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
- Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- Graduation from high school; or
- Any equivalent combination of experience and training.
Special Requirements:
- You must be in possession of a current certificate for Pesticide Applications as issued by the Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture for, industrial, institutional, structural and public health related pest control; or the ability to obtain this certificate within six months of the date of hire.
Additional Requirements:
- You must be in possession of a current driver's license which is not under suspension.
- You must pass a favorable NCIC screening for admittance to Fort Indiantown Gap.
- You must be able to perform essential job functions.
